Do you buy Heartguard and Frontline online or from your vet? Any recs on legit online places to buy them both?
Re: Pet Medication
Frontline you can buy anywhere. It's not a prescription. I usually look online to see where is the cheapest. Different sites run different specials. I have a coupon for a pet store by our house for $5 off Frontline, so I am going to get it from them in a couple of weeks.
As for Heartguard, I suck it up and get it from the vet. My MIL gets it from Australia and that makes me nervous. If you get it from a site in the US, you need a written prescription from the vet that you can fax to them before they will send it to you. I think the prices in the US are pretty comparable to each other.
We buy it from our vet's office. I looked into buying it online, but we'd need a prescription from the vet's office anyway (which I don't even know if they'd give us one!), and it didn't come out to really save us any money.
We use JBPet.com for a TON of stuff. Also www.drsfostersmith.com/ is a fairly reputable place, but I've never purchased meds from either.
We buy Frontline from whichever online pet supplier offers the lower price. But the Heartguard we buy from the vet since we don't want to have to deal with sending a prescription in.
The good thing though is that our vet matches any lower prices you find. So maybe you could see if your vet would do that.
One of my partners always uses Doctors Foster and Smith for his pet meds.
I use revolution instead of the others though. OH and my bookkeeper told me today that the vet told her to never ever use the "hearts" flea and tick mediciation (or is it called heartguard? I can't remember) because a LOT of animals are having allergic reactions to it - he said he has one or two a week coming in seizing from it and sees even more that are having less severe reactions.
Oh yes I have heard that before about the Hartz brand too.
