Eagle Scout - Gift?

One of my students is getting promoted to an Eagle Scout today, and we're going to his ceremony dinner thing.

Do I bring a gift?  If so, what?

If money, how much?

Re: Eagle Scout - Gift?

  • I've got nothing, but that's so sweet of you to support your students outside of school :)
  • I'm sure a gift would be wonderful, but I don't know what. I'm so bad at stuff like that.

  • What about a GC to the movies or something? I would say something small and a card....its really nice of you to go and support your students!

  • Small gift sounds appropriate, the movies GC sounds like it would be appreciated or to something he's into (books, music?).
  • i asked the hub, who's an eagle scout.  he said that cash would be inappropriate, but a gift certificate to a sporting goods store would work, or maybe some cool nature books - perhaps hiking trails or something like that.

Ditto. DH is and Eagle Scout too. What about an REI gift card?

  • Ohh, a sporting goods store would be perfect! He's totally into the camping/hiking thing.

Now, for the other question... how much?  Would $20 be enough? 30?  I dont want to come off cheap, but I also have a baby to feed, know what I'm sayin'?

  • give whatever you can afford.  he's not going to have expectations.

at least, he shouldn't.  and if he does, he can suck it.
