Question that is really confusing me
So I just went and read up on first time home buyer perks. Because it was mentioned and I'm bored. So if you make under X dollars you don't have to pay PMI, but isn't PMI to protect the mortgage company from people who can't affrod their mortgage so shouldn't PMI not have to be paid by people who make more money and not less?
I'm really confused right now. It would seem that this perk would be to people who make more and not less? Am I missing something?
Re: Question that is really confusing me
I dont understand it either - I asked my brother if there was some other kind of amount they had to pay instead of PMI. he said no. I haven't looked into it, but I dont get it.
I guess it's just an incentive to help those people buy houses. I know your combined income has to be pretty low b/c him and his fiance dont make much (probably half of what we do) and he said they barely made the cutoff.
Isn't this the whole reason why PMI was implemented in the first place? Because people were buying homes they couldn't afford? This should a be a perk for people who make more then X not less. A benefit for being able to pay your bills and make decent money.
