I decided to try a local beauty school on the recommendation of a work friend to get a mani/pedi today. I thought, 'wow, only $17 for both as opposed to $73 I pay at the salon'. Well, you get what you pay for.
The had me sit in a hard office-like chair, the one student sitting on the floor doing my toes, the other sitting on my left doing my nails. She made me reach my right hand/arm across my chest/belly to do my right hand. SO uncomfortable! My nails look like I did them myself - she got nail polish on my skin and never tried to get it off. The girl who did my pedi made the mani girl paint my toes because she was "too shakey". The girl actually said 'oh go ahead and do them! who looks close enough to see any mistakes!" Um, ok .....and you girls want to be professionals? Uh, no.
So I just paid the $17 and no tip. I will never go back there OR recommend them to anyone.
Re: Beauty school = crappy mani and pedi
Oh, Sara - how terrible! At least it only cost you $17 to find that out. Did you get to give any feedback? I think no tip is certainly feedback, but it'd be nice to let them know they need to improve greatly!
Wow, I'm really sorry that you had such a bad experience! I can't believe that they had you sit in a hard/straight-back chair, especially since you are pregnant! ?It sounds like they don't take their "job" seriously at all--I do hope someone is looking after them!
Maybe once you're finished with work in the next few days you can go pamper yourself with a real one--too bad you had to lose the $17.?
