Baby shower hostess gift ideas

Hey everyone-- this is "alliandchris" actually. Not sure why I am signed in w/ my old name.

Anyway, my sis is pregnant and is having her baby showers soon. She wanted to know if I knew of any gift ideas for her to give to her hostesses.

I gave her these two links to a couple things that I thought might be cool, but that's all I have for now.

Any ideas would be really appreciated. Thanks!

Re: Baby shower hostess gift ideas

  • I was blessed to have 3 showers. For the first one (my mom's friends) I gave them monogrammed stationary and something unique to each of them (wine bottle stopper, a ceramic cross, a kitchen holder thingy that says "Ginger" - her name).

For the 2nd, it was DH's family, so I didn't really do anything. That sounds bad, but there are so many in his fam (I'm one of 3 prego SIL's right now) we'd forever be buying each other stuff.?

For the 3rd, I tried to make them personal again. Bath stuff from Lush, photo frames from Pier 1, a restaurant journal for the one who likes to eat at fancy places, this Japanese dog toy (odd, but worked b/c I was moving to Japan), napkin rings and coasters- just stuff that looked like each hostess.

I like the personalized gifts, and I don't think they all have to be exactly the same (if there are multiple hostesses). ?

  • Two of my favorite things to give are kitchen towels from Anthropologie b/c they are alway very fun and vibrant and usually look good in any kitchen. The other one is someting someone gave me as a gift once. They are wine bottle stoppers, or if they don't drink could be used for oils, vinegars, etc. that are made of vintage doorknobs. They also have some made with fleur de lis, etc. from old wrought iron fences. You can even have initials added to some of them, plus part of the money goes to charity. You can see more at www.knobstoppers.com.
  • For my first shower I did a potted plant of assorted succulents.  They are easy to care for and look great.  I also gave a nice bottle of wine with that.  (got the wine at the Sigel's 40% off sale so that helped a lot)

For my shower last week I did Root Candles - which I think are the best candles out there - I did a fragrance that wasn't too heavy and the candle also happened to be blue for boy :)  I think the scent was aloe something.  Another good neutral/everybody likes scent is Hosta.  http://www.rootcandles.com/  The nearest store is in Inwood Village

For my shower this week I am totally stealing that Anthropology idea and then maybe something else?  IDK yet.

I'm not sure who is hosting my husband's work shower, so I'll wait on that.  And then for the last shower I think I am going to steal the knob idea.

  • Thanks, ladies! I'll let her know about your ideas/suggestions.

  • They have some really cute coordinating stationary and desk accessories at Hobby Lobby.  I think the brand is Fiddlestix Paperie and the items are really reasonably priced.  They have 5 or so different patterns.  I just bought some for my friend's b-day gift.
