!!!!

Angry I'm so irritated. We rent our house, and our landlord sent an e-mail about 30 minutes ago telling us that he is doing his "annual home inspections" this weekend. Thanks for the notice, buddy. This means DH & I had to cancel our plans w/ my parents for tomorrow evening so he can do the lawn (he was going to do it Sunday afternoon), change the air filter, and patch this scratch on the wall where one of the dogs got bored, and clean the house. The house isn't by any means dirty, but well you know... you always want your house to look perfect before you have company.

Ugh. This sucks. We're having company spend the night on Saturday after the concert. Guess everyone has to get up early now!

Re: !!!!

  • Can you ask your landlord to push it until next weekend since you have company?
  • I thought about it, but Taylor said then he might think we're trying to hide something.
  • Does he fine you if the house isn't clean?  If you mow the yard regularly won't he be able to tell that the growth is just from 1 week?

     Sorry for the hassle!

  • Honestly, unless you are living in complete filth and you have received a citation about the yard height...just patch the scratch (that's the worst thing off of your list!).  I'm a landlord too and he probably is just checking for major things so he can protect his investment.  He probably won't care about any of the little things so why ruin your weekend.  BTW, you sound like a great tenant!~
  • Who cares if he thinks you're trying to hide something? He has to know asking you a day in advance that it's possible you might have plans. What huge thing could you be hiding that you'd be able to change in a week?

  • Thanks :) we definitely do NOT live in filth. lol but I still like to have a really clean house if anyone other than Taylor or me will be there. Really, the house is clean except our bedroom and bathroom. I tend to somehow get make up all over my sink! lol But I clean that once a week anyway... just usually on Sundays... on my own terms. Taylor should probably change the air filter as well. It hasn't been done in about two months. That's good for my allergies anyway, but he hates getting up in the attic!

    Ok, I'll stop whining now.

  • It sounds like you guys are fine, I wouldn't worry about.  Just go on with your normal plans.
