Rant- South York Diner
I shared this with a friend (a nestie!) who is moving to York, but I wanted to share it with everyone else too:
DON'T go to the South York Diner!!! We went there for the first time
tonight and it was TERRIBLE!!! The hostess was extremely rude to us
both when she seated us and when we paid. The only thing good was the
waiter. He was very friendly and took money off of the price of our
check because the food was so bad and we didn't eat it all. The
hostess, however, was awful. She sat us at a table with a TON of crap
under it (first not saying that she was ready to seat us, and instead
yelling to us "NEXT!" from across the room!) and then told us it was
the only place she had open... but the WHOLE RESTAURANT was empty! And
then we went to pay and she saw that the waiter took money off the
check (which he did without us asking him to do it, he asked why we
didn't eat everything and I told him the truth) and she asked what
happened so I told her the food wasn't good. She then said "did you eat
any of it? How much did you eat?" and went to look at our plates! It
seemed like she was going to make us eat more or something. She was
really rude to us the whole time and was awful when ringing up our
check. She acted as if we asked for money off and we didn't. I just
wanted to give you a York tip, haha. We went because my MIL thought it
was good, but will never ever go back again. First impressions are
everything and from the minute we walked in we had a bad impression.
Plus their prices are higher than I thought they should be. Oh well.

Re: Rant- South York Diner
My DH and I dine out frequently and both are pretty well traveled. South York Diner was hands down the worst food we have ever been served. It was so bad, we couldn't stop laughing. Everything came straight out of a can or was a heated frozen meal. So, so bad.
Hm! We'll have to check it out!
There's a Lyndon Diner in York now (formerly the Nautilus & Star-Lite) but I haven't been there yet. I wonder if it's the same as the Lancaster one?
