Hi all - I moved to S Jersey about 6 months ago (from Philly) and it's so hard to meet people in the area. My husband and I moved into a development with a lot of older families.
I'm more of a lurker here (my job doesn't have access to the nest), but I'm curious if you guys have gtgs.
Or, do you know of any local book clubs, sports leagues, etc. My friends in NYC are all involved in ZogSports, but I don't think there is anything like that here.
Thanks!
Re: Are there any SJ GTGs?
We've had a couple.
You should plan one. There is always a lot of interest when someone brings it up. What part of SJ did you move to?
Hey!!
I was in the same boat as you when I moved here. At times, I feel like my development is a retirement community. It was very hard to meet people and my first year down here was pretty lonely.
Luckily, I was able to meet a great group of girls through the knot and the gtg's I attended. Otherwise, I don't know how 20-somethings with no kids meet people in this area!
We are having a lunch in center city in June, but we should also plan a SJ gtg for sometime!
Welcome to SJ!! If you're close to Philly, Philly has a Sport & Social Club. I used to play soccer with them. It's a good way to meet people and they have a lot of different sports.
I agree with Lily - if you plan a GTG, the response is usually good.
Alright - I'l plan one! When do people usually like them - weekday evening or weekends? I'm sure it's hard with summer beginning. Are restaurants the usual spots? Maybe one of the new ones in or around Cherry Hill mall?
We moved to Voorhees. Love the neighbors, so sweet, but they all have college-age kids and we're 29 & 28!
Haha our neighbors are the same. Their kids are not much younger than us! We have a pool in our community and I am amazed at the amount of white haired people. I feel like i should be in Ft. Lauderdale or something!
Weekdays usually have worked best for gtgs. I am up for any of the new CH mall restaurants. I have been wanting to try that Seasons restaurant!
I'm in Glouc County, too. We actually have great neighbors - all around our age, but we're in a townhome community. I guess we got lucky!
Seasons 52 is pretty good! that would be a good place to meet up. I agree - weekdays usually seem to work better.
Krista, they are called BLUE hairs! LOL
Weekdays are good!
Hi
Weekdays are good.
I'm in the same boat as you Shayna. Although I moved to Voorhees about 2-3 years ago. I love my neighborhood but there's nobody in our age bracket. With little luck finding a job down here,I spend a lot of time up back up at my mom's in North Jersey to be closer to my job which has made it difficult to meet new people. Thankfully my H's friends have nice wives but they're all in Philly.
Unfortunately, I've never made it to a GTG because they're all during the week and I'm up at my mom's. I might not be able to make yours but once school gets out for summer, maybe I'll take the initiative and plan one. But I finally have a new job lined up for September and then I'll be going to all the GTGs.
