Re: What is your...
I love the look and feel of old brownstones...the architecture, and all the character that is missing in houess today! Especially in Chicago
Whenever we're up North and in the city and pass them, my mind is always filled with lil' mini fantasies of how I'd decorate them, etc lol
OK what I am about to list is definitely a dream. If it exists at all it is definitely out of our price range.?
I want a house that has a big yard so we can put in a vegetable garden in the summer, and still have space for future kids and a dog to run around. Also I would like a back deck.?
I want a basement that we can make into a sports bar/game room with a TV area. It would have a couple poker tables, maybe a pool table or air hockey table, and the bar on one side, and the other side would have a comfy couch, our Shea Stadium seats and the TV with shelves for all the DVDs)
possibly a laundry room and bathroom in the basement as well?
The main floor would have a kitchen with a lot of cupboard space, an island with the stove top on it, and a rack above for all my pots and pans to hang on. I would want 2 ovens in the wall, and a stainless steel fridge with the freezer on the bottom. I would definitely buy my stand mixer for use in my new kitchen (no one got it off my registry and there is no counter space in this apartment for it anyway)
Also on the main floor would be a ?sitting room. I'd like it to be bright with a lot of windows, a bay window with a window seat, and a couple book shelves (no tv).
There would be 3 or 4 bedrooms. One would be the master bedroom with attached master bath that has a jacuzzi tub and a separate shower. Also very big closets in the bedroom.
Two of the other rooms would be guest rooms/ kid's rooms.?
We would use one bedroom on the main floor as an office space for both of our computers.?
There would also be a bathroom that is not attached to the main bedroom. ?It would have a huge linen closet in it.
There would also be a lot of closets through out the house.?
Aside from the kitchen, and the bar, the rest of the house is modeled on 2 of the houses I lived in as a kid (2 houses combined) LOL?
*sigh* a girl can dream....?
?
I have two dream houses:
Exhibit a.) A German Cottage in of course, Germany!! Anwhere in Germany..
Exhibit
A good ol' plantation with a long drive way lined with Oak trees:
The german one I would imagine to have lots of intricate wood work, decorative ceramic tiles in the kitchen lots of flowers around it, a garden for veggies, and beer on tap (right? i mean every house in germany should have there own keg of good german beer!! hehe)
On the plantation, I would definitely want it to have the wrap around porch, and balcony, HUGE kitchen for big family meals, neat little rooms for kids to play hide and seek in, an antique collection sure enough to make the people on antiques roadshow swoon, and of course a mini farm with some jersey cows and horses and chickens and pigs
I love posts like this, they put me in a good mood
I would love to live on lots of land...I actually already have it picked out and I dream everytime we drive past it. I love the old farmhouse look just updated...a wrap around porch a must! Lots of windows and open spaces. I love big open rooms!
A pool would be wonderful and a barn is a must. I have a dream of looking out either my front or back door and seeing my horses run and play or just eating in the pastures. This will happen one day in my future! I want a big barn that is modeled around the house with the same siding/colors etc.
I dont really want anything ultra fancy just a house to raise my children in a grow old with Dh in....
I will look for pictures of ideas I have!
A colonial with a wraparound porch. First floor would be open floor plan with a huge kitchen connected a Great Room - lots of light! Somewhere in the house I would have a small, dedicated scrapbook room. The garage would be faced perfectly so that it will also serve as a photography studio. The basement would be finished as a media/game/playroom. The yard will be just big enough for privacy but, not so large that all we do is mow!

My Dream house is a beach house, or a house VERY near to the beach. We are actually working on getting a house over in Hernando Beach, FL. My dad is a general contractor and he builds houses in Hernando Beach. "OUR HOUSE" is "started"...its not technically ours, but my dad keeps asking us if we want to buy it. So our goal for the rest of this year is to get some stuff paid down/off/sell so that we can be ready to buy the house next year. I'm SO excited. I've ALWAYS wanted to live there. My dad had a house there when I was younger, his house was right on the canal that lead out to the main channel that lead out to the ocean. Ohh I love it, they called it the "pelican hut"... Our house is 3 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms up stairs. and then the entire downstairs is all garage, they build them elevated for flooding purposes I guess. Our house is about a block from the boat ramp! There is actually no beach in "Hernando Beach", i don't even know why they call it that. It's just a bunch of canals that lead out to the main channel that lead to the ocean. Our entire house will be decorated in beachy theme things. Our house right now is decorated very "beachily" right now. I LOVE the beach, and I can't wait to live closer to the wateR!
