Local propane heating costs

We are in the process of deciding on a house to buy.  One is an electric heat pump and we have a general idea about the cost in the winter.  The other has forced air propane heat, we didn't get a cost estimate from the sellers and I'm not even sure which propane company they use.  Does anyone have propane heat?  What is your appox winter bill?  The house is about 1500 sq of finished space with an unfinished basement.

Re: Local propane heating costs

  • We're on a budget plan, same size house as the one you're looking at but we have a partially finished basement too. We pay $290 a month year round. Hopefully the prices go down this year!! By the way, we bought last July and the sellers told us they were paying much less than that, but when I called the company they told me prices went up in the past year and that's just the way it is. The company we're with owns our tank so it would cost us a lot to switch, they would have to come take their tank out and we would have to pay for another company to install theirs or buy our own tank. Ask who owns the tank, the sellers or a propane company. GL!
  • BTW, we have Amerigas.
  • Thanks for the info!
