Baby Registry

I am sure this question has been asked before, so I am sorry for asking the same question, but I was wondering if you could please tell me what are your must-haves from your registry, and those that you could have done with out.  We have not really thought about registering, b/c we thought it was too early, but one of my coworkers hinted that they are throwing me a baby shower before the end of the school year, and she wanted to know where we are registered.  It is really nice of them to throw me a shower since they do not know that well.  Thank you again!

Re: Baby Registry

  • The good thing about BRU (if that's where you are going to register) is that they have a Top Registry Items section on their website and a must-haves list.

My essentials were the gate for our stairs, monitors, sling & carrier, bouncer, jumper, breast pump, stroller, car seat & extra base for DH's car, diaper genie, bottles, Boppy, bather, booster seat (high chair), diaper bag.

GL and have a blast creating your registry! I did, it made it all feel so real!

  • Wow! I didn't realize there were so many must-haves.  But when I read this, I was like, yeah you need all that stuff.

I was completely clueless, so I thought I ahould ask.  I guess everybody is right.  The baby's things is going to take over our house.  Time to start making more room.

Thanks, my friend! I started a registry on line last nigth as soon as you posted, and it was so much fun!Smile

  • I define must haves as thing for newborn needed right away. That said I would say swing, travel system, boppy, blankets, clothes, diapers, wipes, gas relief, bath, towels, soap and lotion. Also a few bottles to have on hand just in case.

Also I bought my pump myself because I felt weird about asking for it. If you want to view my bru registry email me at screenname @gmail

  • What's so weird about asking for a breast pump? I'm glad DH insisted I put mine on there because it was $300 we didn't have to spend. Actually, everything we have for the baby was bought for us except the travel system because the one I wanted was discontinued long before my baby shower.

And Kristy is right, add toiletries and diaper stuff to your registry. I am well stocked on that too because of my registry! :)

  • Besides the obvious essentials ( i.e., carseat, bottles, diapers, etc.) these are the things that I couldn't do without: Boppy, swaddling blanket, cradle swing (L did not like the regular one), pacifiers, gas drops, burp cloths, breast pads and nursing bras (not really registry items...). Feel free to e-mail me as well to see my registry - Beckanne122 at yahoo.
  • The girls above gave great suggestions so I'll give you some things I registered for and didn't use...

    Diaper Genie

    Wipes Warmer

Restaurant High Chair (I know this isn't an essential, but thought I'd throw it in there!)

  • The one thing that comes to mind that we used every single day was a formula pitcher.  It was so much more convenient to make a day's worth in the pitcher then have the bottles already filled or just leave the pitcher in the fridge and pour what you need when you need it.  Also, it can't hurt to register for a few different kinds of bottles...you never know what kind the little one will like best (we used Dr Brown's).

Well my situation is different I guess. I bought on my own travel system, dresser, bedding set, exercauser, and pump. There just wasn't anybody I could ask for all that stuff from. My MIL bought the crib and my Mom bought the pnp. Also, I just felt uncomfortable about asking somebody for a pump. I think it's a very personal item. To me it would be like asking for a bra. Also, the pump I bought wasn't at BRU or Target. It's an Ameda pump that I bought directly from their website. It's a double pump that came with a case, 6 bottles, a cooler and ice packs for $200.

  • I also bought my own pump. I think that was only thing I actually bought.

I am going to keep it and use it when we leave the house for extended periods of time, but I am renting the hospital pump this time too. It works so much faster.

  • My cousin got me a pump, so I am glad that I did register for it. And a friend got me a bunch a stuff that goes with BF, such as lanolin cream, breast feeding bags, etc. It was a really practical gift. Plus, if you put it on your registry you can use your completion coupon. If people don't want to get for you they wont.

We were very fortunate and got all our big essentials except for our PNP. I was very glad people bought from our registry. I think everyone gave you some great lists. Definitely put toiletries and diaper on there, I didn't put any clothes because people will get you clothes anyways. If you would like to check out my registry email me sherthebear at gmail.com

  • Cloth diapers (for burping clothes) & the kiddopotamus. Both in BULK.
