How was your weekend?

Mine was good. Went too fast as usual. Saturday I had my sis and aunt over for dinner (mom and dad were gonna come but they cancelled, so they were out and sis and kids were in lol). And yesterday I just went to the mall to pick up DH's niece (she's gonna be 3 on cinco de mayo) birthday gifts. I love little girls...they're so much fun to buy for. Not that little boys aren't, but I guess I just love the choice of colors more for the girls.

Re: How was your weekend?

  • My weekend was full of trips to Home Depot and shopping at the mall - YAY!
  • I agree, it went by too fast!

Friday night DH and i just sat like lumps on the couch. We ordered pizza and watched Don't Mess With the Zohan. Sooooooo glad we didn't pay money to see it in the theatre!

Saturday we *cleaned*! Actually, i think i did most of the cleaning. DH tends to get 'overwhelmed' when we clean. Wink Then i took a 2hr nap. Saturday night we headed to friends in Astoria for dinner and hanging out and it was fun!

Yesterday, another 2 hour nap! Then i headed in to the city with DH when he left for his auditions. I walked thru Bed, Bath & Beyond and Container Store. Got a few things at BBB. Then we had dinner at Outback. Then home to watch tv!

  • The weekend was totally different than what I was planning.

Saturday I made a suggestion to DH that since it was the 3rd anniversarry of his father's passing maybe we should go down to MILs house to be with her. We did, it was emotional, she was a pain and I got absolutely no credit. DH thanked me, but (I know it is petty) when his mother thanked him for thinking of her he never mentioned to his mother "Hey, this was Pokey's idea, you should thank her too." I know, petty petty, but still....

Sunday was supposed to be a cousin's kid's first communion but BabyP woke up with a 101 fever and we didn't go anywhere.

Although I did wish that I had a video camera with me on Saturday. I put BabyP down on grass for the first time since last summer and he hated it! He popped up, refused to sit and would only stand holding on to my leg. Every time he lost his balance and his hand would touch the grass he'd squeak and pull it up like it burned!

  • we had a good weekend.

chilled at home on friday night, made some shrimp scampi for dinner and had a really good (and pretty cheap!) bottle of wine

satruday: i took a lomography photo class and now (finally!) know how to use the camera DH gave me in 2007! DH met me in the city and we walked around, had a late lunch at noodle bar (yum!), and watched the celtics/bulls game at home (yay celts!)

sunday: we headed into the city to see adventureland with some friends. it was miserable getting there in the pouring rain but the movie was soooo good! then dragged ourselves and our groceries home and spent the evening watching bad tv. we both had this strange fascination with vh1's tough love.?

now i just want to be back in bed!?

pokey - i'm sorry you didn't get credit from your monster-in-law :( i don't know her but i kind of hate her which is way more petty than you hating her! i wish you had video of babyP not digging the grass!! i bet that was pretty damn funny.?

  • This was a tiring weekend!  DH's friends stayed with us and brought their 3 year old brat, I mean, daughter.  We learned that they have absolutely no control over her, let her do whatever she wants and are scared to say no to her because she screams (they call it "sassy", I call it "bratty").  Moms, would you let your child continue to toss 5 pound weights onto your friends' hardwood floor after your friends have already told your child to stop and she isn't listening? No? Oh, right, because they did.  And that is just one example of a weekend full of moments like that.  And we learned that the friends are MORE than happy to pawn their child off on someone else (aka ME) so that they can relax with a beverage, or coffee and the paper, while I run around the house chasing after the kid so she doesn't wreck everything she finds....

I was glad to see them go.

  • danielle, are you kidding? i would never, ever let them stay with me again. i don't have kids but i babysat for 10 years and the difference between a well-disciplined child and an undisciplined child is night and day. ?

we live below a couple who allows their 5 year old to run around all.the.time. even if it's before 7am on a saturday. a 2 year old may not understand the concept of neighbors (and that's fine) but a 5 year old could if taught. we assumed the kid was around 2 until we overheard him being scolded and the mom saying that he was 5.?

i hope they took you out to dinner for your hopspitality towards their little monster, oops, i mean girl :P?

  • We went out for dinner, but we paid for ourselves - they didn't even offer, after they got two free nights room and board (and babysitting!)

  • Danielle, I'm sorry your house-guests their kid were so rude. At least, they're gone now and you can relax.

Pokey, I'm sorry about the whole MIL situation, she really seems so priceless. I'd be super-annoyed too.

My weekend was good, although now I'm tired. Saturday, we went over to my parents' house, where my DH helped my dad with their backyard porch. Then we took Sasha to her swimming lesson, which was so much fun. Yesterday, we went to the aquarium and Sasha absolutely loved looking at all the fish and even got to pet a starfish! DH's friend who went with us came over for lunch, so we just hung out at home. And as usual we finished the weekend with some bad tv, lol.

  • wow. just wow.?

i'd make sure that you are "out of town" the next time that they want to visit! ?

  • Re: Pokeybear and Danielle--you're such troopers! Pokey--I would feel the same way about no acknowedgment on the MIL front gesture, but you did your good deed for the weekend and should feel good about that and DH realizes too!

Saturday, I enjoyed for once--a weekend free from domesticity overload! No laundry, no heavy cleaning, but instead got a mani/pedi with a girlfriend while DH worked and got some projects going, I'd been putting off Saturday night.

Sunday was good--went to church, came home and took a much needed nap and woke up and made a fabulous dinner if I say so--asparagus, french cut green beans, and cherry tomatoes sauted in olive oil and light garlic. It met DH's approval as the food snob that he is with his line of work, so that capped it off for me!

BTW--the rainy week is not really jump-starting the motivation for the work week! :(

  • Wow, no way.  I'm in agony when we take DD to someone's house!  I bring mountains of stuff to entertain her with so that she doesn't touch A THING!  I'd expire on the spot if she started throwing weights around!
  • Sunday was Nora's 2nd birthday!  We had a family party at my parents' house.  Nice and fun.  She LOVED it!  She kept saying "OOOOOOHHHH!" for every gift, even for the crumpled paper wadded inside a gift backpack! :)

This morning as soon as she woke up she said "It's my BIRTHDAY!"  Ok, sure, what's another day?!
