I'm going to have a nervous breakdown...(long)

Our friends visited for the weekend...we had a FANTASTIC time at Disneyland on Saturday...Sarah went on a bunch of rides and LOVED the all!

Yesterday our friends left in the afternoon for home.  I took Sarah upstairs to check her temp...she's been coughing, has the sniffles and felt warm.  She ran into our guest bathroom and when I went in to get her, there was 2 inches of standing water.  Water that overflowed from the toilet (the bowl not the tank).  I get her out of the bathroom and start throwing towels down everywhere.  I pick up the saturated bathroom rug and throw it in the tub to get it off the floor.  I then open the toilet to plunge it and it was, uhhhh...not clean. Yes, all that dirty water all over my floor and soaked into the hallway carpet a good 3 feet down the hall (including in front of Sarah's room).

I go downsairs with Sarah to get her out of DH's way (he's fininshing up drying things up) and I now see the water ring around the bucket light in the kitchen and 4 more water spots on the ceiling.  I go into our den (other side of the wall from the kitchen) and water is actually DRIPPING out of the ceiling on to our couch!!  Water has run the complete length of the ceiling.  We turn off the breaker to the kitchen lights (I was worried about all of the water up there) and left fans on to start drying.

I called our homeowner's insurance this morning to open the claim.  We have our deductible of $1000 but everything will be taken care of.  The water damage company calls a little bit later to let me know they'll be out between 11am and noon today.  She askes if it was "black water" (never heard that term before but it's what we had leaking) and tells me that the affected parts of the house are going to be quarantined/contained with plastic for 4-5 days while they sanitize and dry out the areas.  Great...

They show up and are testing the carpet and floors for the water damage and 90% of Sarah's room is contaminated!  I am freaking out!!  I had her sleeping in there last night with the humidifier on!

They're still working on the upstairs...they've taken down all of the carpet and tile and they are now taking out the toilet and baseboards.  They haven't even started the downstairs.  They're going to contain the family room and the piece of the couch that was dripped on.  They're also going to have to pull out the fridge, move it and contain half of the kitchen.  We won't be allowed to go into any of those areas for 4-5 days.

My mom is arriving tomorrow (already planned the trip down) and we are going to stay in a hotel.  I don't want Sarah in here while all of this is going on...especially since DH and I were standing in the "contaminated" water cleaning it up then walking all over the house (I mean, what else were we going to do?  we were trying to get it all cleaned up).

The insurance company called and said that as long as we have 1 bathroom and running water, they won't cover hotel stays.  If the kitchen is un-usable then they will reimburse takeout food.  Great...

I think I'll go in the other room and cry some more...
