With my old car, I really didnt care. The clear coat started bubbling and stuff, and it got to the point where it looked like crap, so I thought oh well, there's nothing I can do now.
Since I just got a new car, I guess I should do my best to keep it up.
(sadly, I cant do a clicky poll on this computer)
How often do you wash your car?
Wax?
DIY or take it somewhere?
Re: Poll: Washing your car?
i used to take it every two weeks, but it got expensive. now i go maybe once a month, to the local car wash.
DIY takes too much effort and i'm lazy as hell. i'd rather scrape up the money from under the couch cushions and pay to have it done whenever possible.
I get my car washed and waxed every two weeks. My car is parked outside 90% of the time so it gets dirty after the first week.
I used to wax my car myself because I did a better job than the car wash folks, but it is a lot of work and you have to wait to do it in the shade. I never have enough time to do it since my car is only in the shade right before the sun goes down.
congrats on the new wheels! Since I too have a new car, I am washing more frequently.
I'm washing every 2 weeks or so, and DIYing, or taking it to a hand wash place.
[I tried the drive through at the local gas station and I couldn't figure out how to turn off the automatic windshield wipers --> resulted in jacked up wipers that H was not happy to fix!]
eh. I am pretty lazy so it comes down to whenever I can get V to take it to the car wash or come get me while they clean it. I get it hand washed and it takes forever
I have two clients who own car washes within 2 miles of either side of my house so when I have to drop off work related stuff, I go see them.
Otherwise it's few & far between. My truck gets hit with sprinklers all of the time so I don't see the point of keeping it sparkling.
The Mr. Clean car wash system is actually a really nice way of DIY, it worked great on the Prius but it's still a PITA to wash my beast.

why am i not surprised at this?
i wash my car once a semester now...so like 2-3 times a year at a local hand wash place. we don't have a driveway or anywhere to wash our cars, so DIY is not really an option. when i was working, i'd wash it about once a month as both my parking spots (at work and home) were covered. there was a hand wash service in our parking garage, so it was super convenient. they'd wash while i worked.
I only take it when MH yells at me that it is dirty.
I take it somewhere because I don't have the facility to do it at my complex.
That's not one of my responsibilities.
