Middle names?

Something keeps me from being 100% sure about the middle name we have picked out for Rachel. I am pretty sure we will go with it, but I keep wondering about other names.

I won't mention the name yet, but if you were using Rachel as a first name, what middle name do you think would go well?

Just to give you a sense of what I am looking for, I like traditional and biblical names that have a Spanish equivalent. I'm not too keen on trendy/modern names like Madison and Ava.

And please NO Rae! I can't tell you how many people have gotten pi$$y with  me because I refuse to name my daughter Rachel Rae! TIA!

Re: Middle names?

  • Not sure about biblical names, but I really like Rachel Gabrielle.

  • Ew. Rachel Ray/Rae. Gross.

Sorry. I am searching for a name and I can't find one yet. I will keep looking.

I like that too! My favorite biblical girl name is Jael but that doesn't really go with Rachel.

Yup! One of them is MIL's cousin and her name is Rae. I guess that's why she was so put off by my refusal.

  • Rae/Ray is not cool.  I really like Kim's suggestion of Rachel Noelle.

  • I love Elizabeth but of course it's my middle name so Stick out tongue

Anyway I think you need to know the last name before you can pick a middle. It has to flow. KWIM?

Is it sad that the only biblical name I can think of is Ruth?

  • I like Elizabeth, too!  Of course it's Sarah's middle name...so I guess I'm partial to it...

    It's also a biblical name!

  • Faith, Joy, Hope? I love the name Madison but I don't think that's biblical.
  • Elisabeth. I also like Tarah but I don't know how well Rachel Tarah would sound.
  • How about Rachel Inez?

    Inez or Ines means Holy

    I'm partial to Inez b/c that's my g-ma's name =)?

Rachel is a biblical name! Smile

I guess I decided to ask about middle names because I heard the name Amelia in a movie the other day and never realized how pretty it is. It got me second-guessing. Also, my mom's nickname was Abby and I thought it would be neat for her to be named after her grandma, but I don't like how Rachel Abby sounds. Then there's my grandma's name, Teresa. She would be so honored! And DH's late grandma, Elaine.

But...Katherine is the front runner. I have always liked that name and always thought it would be my daughter's first name, but DH and I agreed on Rachel instead.  Decisions, decisions! And only 3 weeks to go.

How about Rachel Therese...it still honors Teresa.
