Lawn Services near Swedesboro?
Can anyone recommend a good lawn service. We were told that our builder would come and seed our backyard and they never did. Now we have tons of crab grass and we would like to get it taken care of and proper seed put down. So I am looking for recommendations...
Re: Lawn Services near Swedesboro?
Ha - I dont think they ever did anything for our back yard. it's awful and we get a lot of water that builds up. I dont think we'll ever have a nice lawn.
They keep putting one service on our door knob like once/week. I cant remember the name right now but I think it's a chain one.
I do know my brother's friend has a lawn service co:

Yea, they do good work. They've done my parents lawn before. And I don't think they're overpriced.
They may have planted seed in our side and back lawn, but it still looks awful. We've tried planting seed too. it's just hard to grow grass when every time it rains our whole yard floods. Our front is OK too b/c of the sod. the flooding is on our side and back lawn.
Good luck with yours!
I use Dave Garozzo. This will be our third summer using him; my neighbor has been using him for 5-6 years. He's great and has done cleanup work, tree work, mulch and cuts our lawn twice a week. Let me know you have any questions.

Do they have a website? What are their prices like?
I'm no lawn care expert, but your drainage problem might also be due to the lack of topsoil in the yard. Builders routinely scrap away top soil before construction, which could be why you are left with the orange soil instead of the rich, black soil that grass loves.
If you felt like DIY I'd completely strip the crabgrass from the yard, lay down some topsoil, seed and keep the lawn watered. We did that in our front yard two weeks ago and the grass seed is really starting to come in! It only took one exuasting afternoon of work.
As for the mushrooms, I would not pour bleach on them. Moist and dark areas are their environment, so to get rid of them I'd see how you can eliminate one of those things. See if your rain spout is draining to that area, could be a cause of continuing moisture.
Sorry so long! Jeez!
ETA: What about a clover lawn? http://www.wikihow.com/Grow-a-Clover-Lawn I love our clover ground cover.
Toni- I was talking to DH today and I think we are just going to wait and do it in Sept. We are going to have to till our yard as well and then top soil and seed. For now I guess we will just make sure the cut the crab grass so it doesn't look horrible.
He doesn't have a website. I think we pay him about $200/month for the lawn service and the season's chemical treatments. The first year we used him, he did extensive cleanup, added trees and add soil around our driveway (re graded it). He was $500 less than the other people we had quote us.
Just FYI, we never laid topsoil down when our house was built. The builder just sprayed it with seed and the grass grew (and the weeds decreased each year). We too had that orangeish dirt. You can seed in the spring if needed. Our house was built in the winter (we closed in Dec 2002) and the sprayed it with seed in April/May and we did grow grass that year. It also will significantly help with the drainage issues as PP mentioned.
