POLL: Childhood beliefs

Let's wake up the board Big Smile

What were the funny things you believed as a kid?

I thought there were elves inside the traffic lights that controlled the traffic.

I thought all money you deposited in the bank was put in a little box with your name on it. I was appalled to learn they mixed everyone's money up!

I thought there was a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow.

I was deathly frightened of aliens and ghosts. Too much Unsolved Mysteries.

Re: POLL: Childhood beliefs

  • I thought there was an evil robot hiding in my closet at night when I was really little, but that's about it.
  • LOL!

I thought that little monsters slept under the bed, and if my feet were exposed while I slept, they would pull and/or bite on my toes.  To this day I cannot leave my toes exposed while I sleep.

  • I believed that the headless horeseman was real until like 4th grade. I was also scared of the dark so these two things went hand in hand.

  • I swear I have early onset Alzheimers.  I can't remember a damn thing about my childhood.  Tongue Tied
  • I've posted this before, but I thought that Soup Plantation was an actual plantation, so I was afraid to eat at the restaurant.

I also thought the ball pit at Chuck E. Cheese was made of quicksand. So, I was terrified to play inside of it.  I hated that sinking feeling.

  • I thought a person watching the streets on video camera decided when the lights should turn red, yellow, or green and they would keep a light red if they felt like being mean.

  • I thought a lot of crazy things because I believed anything my older sister told me. Examples:

-There were real alligators in a rapids ride at an amusement park. In my defense the park had an African theme and there were alligators in the park.

-Does anyone remember Bonkers candy? Perhaps my most gullible moment, I thought the giant fruit would actually fall on you if you ate the candy. My sister swore over and over that it would.?

  • I definitely remember Bonkers candy. ?My brothers and I won the Thundercats lair, car and figurines with winning Bonkers wrappers. ?:)

After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

  • My grandmother told me I had better take care of my dolls because they came alive at night.  She told me if I wasn't nice to them they might do something to me in my sleep.  Yeah, pretty sure that's borderline child abuse, ha ha!

  • I was not a fun child.
    No strange beliefs here.

    ?

That's the kind of thing that would terrify me. I always thought my stuffed animals were aware. ?

Sorta this.  It was pretty much due to watching Critters.  Those maneating fur balls scared the *** out of me.  However, I'm am no longer afflicted by it.  I can't stand having my feet under the covers, now.

me too! I can't stand having my feet uncovered while I sleep. I feel like someone's going to pull my toes or something.

I also used to believe that any stranger was going to kidnap me. I was terrified to go near anyone I didn't know. I don't know why.  Thank God I grew out of it.
