Pete's Piano Bar

So... I've never been to Pete's and we're going on Saturday for a friend's birthday! Who has been and what did you think?

Re: Pete's Piano Bar

  • We were there in March, first time I'd been there.  I liked it.  We went with a group for a party.  No one made reservations, so if you don't have them already I'd call and ask because it's already standing room only (and it's a small place) by 7pm when the show starts at 8pm.  The guy with the reservation list told us reservations for that night had been made 3-4 weeks in advance; however, he was willing to take a cash bribe to seat our party at a reserved table up front if the party who had the reservations didn't show by the time the show started.  So, 50.00 under the table later we were seated right up front.  If I'd had to stand it wouldn't have been as fun.  The places gets really smokey too.  We had a great time but not someplace DH and I would jut go alone for a date night.  Have fun!
  • I LOVE Pete's!!!  Defintely make reservations or get there early so you can have a table to sit at!
  • I've been to the Fort Worth location and have always had fun. It's really, really crowded - the earlier you can arrive the better. I've never had a problem getting reservations in Fort Worth - I don't know about other locations - but I've been with smaller parties. Don't expect to be able to interact with the people you are with much - it's too loud. And bring some cash.

  • Make reservations.  Even w/ reservations, arrive early.  Be prepared to breathe smoke.  (Or is Pete's smoke free now w/ the new bar law?)

  • I've been in Austin, not here. It was super fun! I agree with the others, it gets super crowded.
  • Its alot of fun, but like the pp says, take cash, and do what you can to get a table.

I went for a bachelorette party, and I couldnt have imagined what it might have been like if we didnt have a reserved table.  It is a small place and views are limited if you are standing-and it isnt like the people at the reserved tables leave after a little while and tables pop open...in other words, people that reserve tabled are there are there because thats where they are hanging for the night-they didnt just walk in off the street.  There are cancellations though, and I remember we got an extra table because one near us didnt show.

I liked it alot-it was a blast, but it isnt somwhere Id for just for the heck of it with a couple people.  The entertainment itself revolved around the bachelorette parties to me-they entertain the crowd thats there specifically...some birthdays were given a little attention.  It just seemed to be really the place to go for a bachelorette party...seems like that was all that was there when we went.

  • Interesting! Thanks for the tips. :) I have no idea if there is a reservation or not... Taylor is hanging out tonight w/ the guy who's b-day we're celebrating so I'll be sure to have him ask. We can't stay out too late and I don't plan to drink because we have to get up early for Mother's Day stuff. Hopefully it'll be a good time!
  • I was going to mention it was very bachelorette-y the night we went, it is a great place for that but still.  I actually think they have a few people planted in the audience that are part of the show to bring up on stage to do stuff because some of the skits wouldn't have been nearly as funny if a regular customer did it.

  • It's a lot of fun! Beware though, it can get incredibly raunchy sometimes. Last time we went, they got stuck on some really nasty joke (that wasn't even funny) and wouldn't let it go. It got really annoying, but usually it's a blast! Every time I've gone we've called the day of and been able to get a table reservation. If they say they're full, keep calling back through out the day because they get cancellations sometimes (one time, that's how we got the table). Have fun!
  • I don't think it was affected by the new smoking ban because it's in Addison, not Dallas.  Addison still allows smoking in bars...at least, it did as of last weekend when I was there.
