That's where we're going for our 1st anniversary! Which I can't believe is next weekend already, wow what a fast year (and what a last minute trip). I'm so excited, but I need some tips about what to see, where to go and place to eat. Hotels are in Galway and Dublin.
My only must do is the Guinness Storehouse and the Cliff of Moher. We have a rental car, so driving to check out of the way towns/attractions will not be a problem.
Thanks all
Re: Ireland!
Thanks! It was such a last minute decision to go... we booked it yesterday!
I can lend you my Dublin book. It was super helpful. I suggest taking the bus into Dublin and around Dublin when you are there. You DO NOT want to drive in the actual city. It's f'ing nuts.
Queen of tarts has the most amazing pastries. Also they eat on really strange schedules. Kristen and I couldn't figure out when they had breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So we ate when we were hungry and had whatever meal they happened to serve. Also try Bulmers. It's super yummy! Stay away from anything called pudding it isn't yummy pudding like we have here it intestines of animals.
Also everything closes around 7 PM in Ireland. EVERYTHING!
Also no one and I mean no one understands the concept of waiting in line. If you are about to get on the bus you just walk, there is no line and people are down right rude. Also people will walk straight for you on the side walk and not think twice about bumping into you.
The 80's are having a major come back in Dublin as well. So bring your aqua net and tease it up.
Ahhh Aqua Net! I was wondering about the fashion in Ireland...ah well, I guess I'll just look outta place with my flat hair.
I just finished reading all your Ireland tags in the blog. The hard cider is a must! Thank you for the offer of borrowing the book, I'll let you know if I'll be up your way soon. If I can't get out of the dirty south than I'll pick up my own copy.
Any plans on you headed back one day?
You hurt my feelings Eva by reading the blog, but not following. OHHHHH WOHHH ISSS MEEE! LOl
Yeah I plan on going back some day. The H would like it there. I would like to see the countryside and all that is the the rolling green hills.
FYI Kristen and I spend about five hours at the Guiness brewery. It is that awesome. It's also hot as testicles there.
never been, no tips.
hope you have a blast!
I liked Kinsale, too, which I don't think is a huge touristy place. Supposedly it's the gourmet capital of Ireland. It's Annapolis-ish, right on the water and such and tons of restaurants.
I'm jealous you'll get some Bulmer's! I'll have to ask my friend what the name of the pub is that has the taps right in the middle of the tables.
Lily is definitely right about the 80s. It's a tad scary.
Are you going to kiss the Blarney stone??
ditto

You're going to have a blast! I have a few posts in my blog, but most of it is probably covered by Nat's.
I loved the Guinness Brewery...it was so freakin hot in there! Wear layers and beware of strange foreign guys. The Guinness definitely tastes different there than here and I think it was so much better there.
Have fun and happy anni!
I'm jealous. Ireland is on top of my wish list.
I just hope you represent America well and don't look too pale. We all know what happened last time someone went to Ireland and didn't wear make-up. We almost had an international crisis incident. LOL
