I picked up Perfect Fifths at the library after work yesterday. I finished it this morning.

omg ..... no words ..... or maybe too many, because there are so many great parts.

I don't think I've been this satisfied by a book for a long time. Now I'm even sadder that I missed McCafferty's appearance.

Did you post a review on the book club board? I would love to know your thoughts on it.

Re: ***Y_L***

  • I LOVED it!!

I did a review on my blog, but it's vague since I didn't want to include spoilers.

I have to go to lunch, but I'll give you my opinion when I get back.

Umm, yeah  Embarrassed ... All I could think during that portion was, "Maybe this wasn't a good book to read while waiting in court." I kept checking to make sure no one was coming up behind me because I wanted to be sure I read that part carefully. Because it would be a shame to ignore all the detailed effort the author put into it, you know?

  • Okay, these are my thoughts...

(spoilers for those who haven't read it!)

It started off slow for me. I was a little worried at the beginning because I wasn't super into it and I was just wanting it to get to the part when JD/Marcus were reunited and hanging out. All the stuff leading up to that was slowwwww, but I think it's just because I was so anxious for what was going to happen.

The "conversation" part was cool. I liked that we didn't have the internal monologue from either of them because it was really up to us as the readers to figure out what they meant by what they were saying to each other...just like they would have to. I was annoyed with their ivy-league one-upmanship, but I could see why they were acting so pretentious toward one another.

The haiku section was my favorite! I loved it so much!

After this, I FLEW through the book. It was so awesome. I loved getting Marcus's POV and finding out why he did the things he did in the past. I loved the haiku he left for her in the room. I loved the shower scene, of course. I loved the Barry-oke...it was all awesome. SO. GOOD.

Then, omg...the found poem sex scene. SO HOT. Yes

I loved that the end was ambiguous but still hopeful. <3 Awesome book.
