photo cakes

Has anyone had their local grocery store make one of these? How long did it take? I've tried calling 3 bakery depts in my local grocers with no success.

I have a friends bday party this weekend and I'm supposed to bake a cake but I took a priceless photo this past weekend and would rather go that route.

Re: photo cakes

  • I haven't done it there, but I'm pretty sure the Ralph's downtown does it.

  • I'll try calling the one over there, the one closest to me is pretty ghetto and apparently not at all interested in taking phone calls.
  • Gaskin Robbins does these
  • you know what I mean. Hate nering from iPhone
  • haha...thanks tater! I didn't even think about calling them, but an ice cream cake sounds much better.
  • baskin robbins *used* to do these, but when i went to get one for the teen's birthday last year, they'd discontinued them.

i was still able to get it done, but i had to have the photo transfer made at a cake/candy shop locally.  i doubt you'll want to drive to glendora, but if you get desperate, you can bring a picture printed on paper and then they put it through a special machine that creates a transfer that goes right on the cake.

  • Damn,

I was going to order the edible photo transfer off the internets, but even with rush processing I can't get it done. The BR closest to me didn't answer the phone either. Apparently, no one wants to sell me a cake today.

Maybe I'll just print the photo on regular photo paper and throw it on top of the cake. It's a dude we're talking about so I doubt he'd even care if I had to take the pic off before anyone dug in.

  • My MIL has them done at Albertsons.
