Speaking from vast experience in the area of thinking I'd have all of these things much, much younger than I am, trust me...the timing will work out and things will fall into place.
What about starting to look for a new apartment that allows dogs? I know a lot of people like to own a home before having children but, it's not a prerequesite. I was born when my parents were in a rental and it didn't stop them from owning several homes since.
You have a lot on your plate right now, trying to work your career up, being a newlywed, living in a new place. I know it's hard and you want things to just happen. But, I know you also have a lot of good. Try to take a step back each day and loook at the good stuff that you have in your life. The rest will come...I promise!
