Restaurants - McKinney, TX

Does anyone have some good suggestions for places to eat in McKinney? We are going there for a "date day" and I heard there were some fun places in the town square...

Thanks!!

  • The best place hands down is Rick's Chophouse.  We were there for both lunch and dinner on Saturday.  It's one of DH's clients and we just love the atmosphere.  There's a great good sized bar/lounge with live entertainment in the back that is always packed.  Rick's is right next to the Grand Hotel, so if you're spending the night, that would be a good option.  Also, right now the Grand Hotel has a package deal where you can get a room and dinner for 2 at Rick's for 259.00, great price.

If you want Italian, Mama Emillias is awesome.  The canneloni and creme brulee are to die for.  Nice atmosphere there as well, not a happening bar though, just good food.

Goodhues.  We used to like it but lately the steaks have been slacking...a lot and honestly, Rick's is better.  I think most people have transitioned over to Rick's that used to frequent Goodhues, even the waitstaff have noticed a decline in clients when we were there last.  They did recently put in a lounge, but nothing compared to what Rick's has.

All of these are right on the square, and are the higher end ones, with the exception of Mama Emillias, entrees there will start around 12.00, so not bad.  There's also Cafe Malaga a very small tapas bar, Cadillac Pizza, which is kind of a biker hangout sometimes.  The Landon Winery is right next door to Rick's, if you wanted to hang out there for wine.  Spoons is another one that is more lunch crowd, but open late as well for dinner and there's the Londoner.

My choice would be Rick's for a date night.  Have fun!

  • I second Mama Emilia's and Cafe Malaga. Cafe Malaga fills up quickly so make reservations or go early. I haven't tried Rick's. Oh, and you need to make reservations for Mama Emilia's too.
