So, I am not yet a mommy, but I had my first "unofficial Mother's Day gift," I call it.
DH's 12-year-old cousin, who I've long adored, is being raised by MIL (her aunt), and I've always had a real soft spot for this little girl--because she's away from her mother right now. She was also our flower girl when she was nine. I've had such a bond with her, that I let her spend weekends with me and DH on occassion, which I often find myself tapping into the mommy role to make sure she's brushed her teeth, finish her homework, etc. I've often joked to the family that she's "my practice baby!"
Well, she totally surprised me with a self-made Mother's Day card decorated with colored tissue paper that read: "Roses are Red, Violets are blue, today is Mother's Day, and this is for you!" I almost immediately teared up! When I asked her why she would give me a Mother's Day card, she said that "I am a mother--to her!)
That just made my day and I told her I would cherish the card and keep it forever!
Doesn't that just make you turn to mush?! AW!
Re: AW: Mother's Day moment..!
That's too sweet. It brought tears to my eyes.
My godson called me all the way from the Caribbean to wish me Happy Mother's Day too. He said he misses me and wished that I was home. That melted my heart too. Awh!
