I'm a BAd wife :-(

DH's birthday is on Memorial Day and I totally forgot about getting him anything.  With everything that's been going with us on AND the fact that we will be overseas on our HM for his b-day, it just totally escaped me.  Now, I'm in a pickle and have no idea what to get for him.  Eeeekkk, I suck!!!

Suggestions of something that will travel well and does not need to be ordered online???

We will be seeing his family there so, I was thinking that I could maybe to portraits of him with his relatives or a huge family photo to frame afterward as part of the gift (I'm a photog).

  • I think the photos would be a great gift!  also, you might find something over there that you want to give him, so don't give up hope :)

  • I agree with Carrie about the photos, that's an awesome and very memorable thing to give him!!! And just think of some of the amazing shots you could get!!! And also finding something when your over there, that's definitely a possibility!!! :) Maybe on his birthday you could make him something? LIke some type of greek pastry (baklava(sp) or cake or something?? Are his parents going to be over there at teh same time ya'll will be there?
  • I love the idea of doing some photos or getting him something while you guys are over there.  I'm also becoming a bigger believer in spending money on some sort of activity together instead of a physical gift (especially when you can't think of anything to buy, lol) because then you get to spend time together and make a new memory.  Wow, that was cheesy.  Guess I need my morning coffee to get some sass in me today :)

Anyway, is this your DH's first trip to Greece too?  Prob not with all the family, but what about going somewhere or seeing something special together while you're there?

  • can you snag a nice dinner alone and tell the people its his birthday (even if it is a few days before or after that?)

snag him a nice card (happy birthday hubby!!!) and then write in it a note promising a nice dinner out when you come back? ?

  • You are not a bad wife.  Even if I remembered, I probably would have held off on getting him a gift before we left, in case I found something for him while we are gone.  I really like the idea of taking pictures and doing something with those for him.  Either way, he'll love whatever you do.
  • Thanks girls!

I had a brainstorm after I posted and ran out to pick up something small - a book on a topic he's been taking a lot about and a birthday card.  The dinner out sounds nice and I could definitely do something like that  :-)

Renea - Yes, DH spent every summer of his childhood in Greece and has been there many times as an adult.

  • You are not a bad wife, Jen. DH's birthday was during our HM. Instead of an actual (tangible) gift, I surprised DH with dinner on the beach.

I think the photos are an awesome idea, too.
