It is my first day back to work since my time off with my sister, and my job has gone haywire. They laid off three people one in my area, and everyone who is staying is getting a 25% pay cut. We now also have to pay for our medical which use to be included. I did not realize how much it was going to be until I seen it written down on paper. Now I need to decide what it is I am going to do.
This is where you nesties come in. What should I do? Is there hope to find a new job or is it a lost cause. It takes me an hour to get to work, I pay toll twice a day, and now I will be paying medical. I really would like to find something close to my home. I feel like I am getting part time pay so why not get a part time job, and have the extra time to put into school. Geeeeezzz what a way to come back from vacation. Does anyone know of any job openings?

Re: OMG Long.....
What type of job are you looking for? I don't know of any but just wanted to ask so I could keep my ears open for you.
I want a new job too, but I'm too scared to quit right now.
How much a week or biweekly do you have to pay? My health insurance is included too and I think if I had to pay mine I would look for something else too, but it really depends how much it is. GL
Oh Shirley, I'm so sorry.
It wouldn't hurt to start job searching! If you dont' find anything, at least you have something, and if you do find something better, then well, congrats! LOL GL

Im so sorry to hear that Shirley. I dont think it hurts to actively look and apply for a new job. I wouldn't quit your job until you find a new one though- that is if you can't afford to do so.
I know the job market sucks right now but you never know- you have to do whats right for you. I am actively searching for a new job too because I am terribly unhappy where I am at. I have seen a lot of new openings in my field in the last month so I am hopeful.
Lots of luck!!!
Ditto to what the girls said above!
Hang in there
I am not really sure I am a student advisor. But I want to do something diffrent. So I am pretty much up to anything.

Am sorry to hear that but atleast you didnt come back and not have a job. I found out that sometimes when you check with the insurance company yourself sometimes is cheaper i thought it was impossible but someone had luck and they turned out to pay less then having it with the company.
I agree with the girls look first and when you get another job then quit. Good Luck sorry you had to come back to that.

Hey Shirley. I hear ya. I'm in a similar boat. They laid off 40 people this week at my agency and I'm sitting here pregnant and hoping that I won't get cut.
I'd suggest attending a job fair of some sort. If you are looking for a job in advertising or marketing, try TalentZoo.com, it's one of my fave sites.
Other than that, keep making that money til you find something better or you decide to weather the storm.
Good luck.
i agree with the PPs... you should definitely look into other options... good luck!!
