Looking to buy in McKinney any area we should stay away from?

Any area of McKinney we should avoid? We are looking at the West side of 75.

Any areas on the West side you would recommend?

?

Thanks?

  • No suggestions just wanted to say that we are looking in that same area. I love it. I have found that we like most of the neighborhoods south of 380 and north of 121, but that doesn't narrow it down much for you!

  • Yeah that is a large area. However right now I am all over the Mckinney map, although I am with you. I am focusing my search West of 75, North of 121 and South of 380.?

  • We live in between Eldorado and Virginia off of Custer and really like the area. It is convenient to stuff and also 1/2 way between 75 and the Tollway which is nice b/d I take one to work and DH takes the other. If your husband is a golfer there is one right there which my husband uses all the time. We like the area b/c it is quieter the areas closer into 121 or closer to Preston more in Frisco. There are a lot of great neighborhoods off of Virginia, East of Custer but West of 75. Also, in our area we are technically McKinney, but our neighborhood feeds into Frisco schools and when the new high school is built we will feed into that as well. I am not sure where the dividing line is for that, but something to be aware of if you have a preference on the school districts.
  • I would just suggest that you really look at the neighborhood at all times of day. Drive all over the area. Check out how many homes are for sale, how many homes keep up their lawns, etc. Most of the neighborhoods there are fairly new. We lived off of Custer in between Virginia and 380 and while it was a fine neighborhood when we moved in, by the time we moved out 5 years later, the neighborhood was really starting to go downhill. Look into the homeowner's associations too. They can really be a good thing or a pain in the arse!! GL!!

  • You're definitely doing good by looking on the west side of 75. Other then that, long term I'd try to get into the Mckinney Boyd High School district because it's the newest and nicest. Bare in mind too that some of the west side houses still fall in the Mckinney High district which is on the east side.

  • We live in McKinney near Eldorado and Ridge. It is a good area. Close to everything.  Definitely look at neighborhoods during all times of the day.
  • Thank you ladies!!

  • What's wrong with east of 75? The historic district is wonderful!
