How much booze?

Anyone have an idea of how much beer and wine I should get for 60 people?  I did an online calculator and it said 30 bottles of wine and 150 cans of beer.  I think that the 30 bottles is a little much.

Any suggestions?

Does anyone have any suggestions for wines that are crowd pleasers?  I was going to get mostly white and red and a few blushes.

If it was my IL's then that wouldn't be enough liquor.  Just buy more then you need from a store that allows returns.  That way you won't run out but you can also return the unopened bottles.
  • I have a sheet from Canal's that says for 50 people you should have 3 1.5L bottles each of white, red & blush wines.  Then for beer it has regular & lite and has 3 cases each of 12oz bottles.  For 100 people it is 6 bottles of each of the wines and 4 cases each of the beer.
  • 30 seems a bit much to me, but I like what pp suggested.  Buy 30 and then return if unused.  I've always found Yellow Tail and Ecco Domani to be affordable crowd pleasers.  Los Vascos Cab Sav (Chilean) is surprisingly sophisticated for its price.  My Uncle, who's a wine snob even likes it.
  • i am a large fan of barefoot wines. they are really affordable and taste fantastic! i love the pinot grigio and the shiraz and cabernet savignon are good as well. :) and yah i believe that 30 bottles of wine is a little too much, but i would probably still stay with at least 15-20.

Usually a store will tell you how much you need when you place the order if you ask.
  • I have no idea how much wine is the right amount. But if you wind up with leftover that you couldn't return, I'm sure I'm not the only one on here who would be willing to do a huge favor and help finish it off.
I'm pretty sure it's pronounced your mom's a moron and if you didn't have your name legally changed by the age of 22, so are you. Unless you're from another continent. -Groomz
  • Ha ha...if there's any leftover I'll have to have a GTG at my house and we can all just drink ;-)
