Forgotten Items

As a bride who will be walking down the aisle in a few days, I thought I would ask those who have gone before me: What was the one item (or items) that you forgot and wish that you would have had on your wedding day? I'm preparing my packing list now and would appreciate any advice on what I should not forget to bring. TIA.

Re: Forgotten Items

  • We forgot our rings! LOL Good thing we were local so J ran home and got them wedding day morning. Thank you pro pics have been another forgotten item.... Good Luck!
  • Hmm, luckily I had several people there reminding me what to take. Don't forget your camera, make sure the battery is charged. Take as many pictures as you can while you can.

Oh! Make sure you  have hand soap on you just in case your venue, for some strange reason does not. Our's didn't. Weird I know, but luckily someone had a small travel bar on them.

  • I forgot to bring my camera. :-( You're going to want that while you're getting ready and stuff.
  • I honestly don't think we forgot anything, I certainly didn't notice if we did.  HokieDor had a really detailed list of things to bring and it had me covered.
  • My advice is to pack everything you need the day before.  I had everything in my bag and just checked and rechecked a million times before we went.

Once it comes time to go, it will be crazy, so make sure its all done before the day of.  The day of everything is like a wirlwind.

Be sure to pack make up, I also packed a towel to put around me while reapplying my loose powder.  My venue had water, but I sure wanted some water before walking down the aisle.  Maybe a peppermint.  Shout wipes, lent roller.  Hair spray.  Needle and thread (just in case).  Bobbie pins. EXTRA SHOES!  Believe me no matter what you are going to want to change your shoes.  I kept mine on as long as possible, but ended up changing them about 1 hour before the end.

Honestly what I did was give my bridesmaids bags with wedding day essentials, along with their gift.  I figured if needed one of us would have it.

In the end you'll pack way more than what you need, but its always nice to be prepared.

  • Luckily I didn't forget anything.  My aunt made me an emergency bag with everything you could have ever wanted.  I definitely only needed one safety pin as my bustle fell out when dancing because somebody stepped on my dress.

I didn't change my shoes (ahem, AJ) but brought flip flops just in case.

Ditto what everybody else said...pack beforehand.  I started packing a week before to make sure I had everything.

  • Luckily I didn't forget anything.  But I did forget to have the photog take pictures of me and each of my girls separately, which I'm sad about.  Ditto PP, I packed everything I could possibly think of and had two different girls go through the list of things I could possibly need, and we were covered.  Oh, I did end up forgetting underwear to wear under my dress and had to go buy some :)  Guess I didn't think of everything!

  • A lighter/matches for the unity candle.
  • HA HA Lizzy - My heels were pretty high so J wouldn't have to bend down to far to kiss me.  I think that was why they hurt so bad.  I swear my foot was like this all day it was bad. =)
  • we forgot to get someone to read one of our readings at the ceremony-so we asked one of our friends last minute.

at the rehearsal dinner i forgot my bm gifts at home!!!! and we forgot our marriage certificate at the rehearsal also, which we were supposed to bring...

  • Luckily we got married at my parents so we had everything we could have needed but I definitely second the safety pins.  I went ahead and pinned my dress under the bustle b/c I have seen several of my friends break their bustles the same way Lizzie described.

  • A small towel for reapplying loose powder- I knew some of you would think of things I hadn't. I appreciate all of the advice. I'll be packing up about a week before, we're having the wedding about three hours away from home, so I will be sure to have a bridesmaid check over my list(s). Thank you again.
  • The only thing we forgot that really wanted was our personalized napkins. I left them at my house, and was getting married 3 hours from my house. So now we have 125 beautiful napkins to just use at home.

I do wish we'd taken more pictures. We were really tired, hot, and wore out only half way through the day, so we stopped pictures early. I regret that.

  • I'll ditto the emergency kit.  We dove into that thing several times the entire weekend!

    Ha! I forgot my Garter!

    ?

..Ok I didn't forget it, I had it at the church but it was tight so I didn't wear it, and we forgot what car we put it in once we arrived to the reception in multiple cars! Oh well, didn't ruin a thing!?
