Getting couch shampooed?

I have a micro fiber cream couch that's getting a little dirty due to my dog that loves to sleep on it....I have used a hand held shampooer to clean it once before but it takes so long....are there places you can call to get it done and does anyone know how much it costs?

Also, is it true the more you shampoo your couch the dirtier it will get later?  Someone told me that the more you use the chemicals to clean it, it then removes the layer that protects your fabric.....true or not?

 TIA

What I have done with our furniture is...

I buy the cans of scotch guard and after the furniture is nice and clean spray the scotch guard on it.  Then a lot of dog lounging ick just wipes off.  My dog LOVES to sleep on the furniture and doesn't understand that when it's raining he can't just go jump on the furniture for a nap.

I've been able to just wipe off his muddy dog paws off of my beigey/pinky colored microfiber couch.

  • I'll have to try the cornstartch trick.....Now I just gotta find someone to give it a good cleaning.  My dog, like yours, doesn't get he can't take a flying leap onto the couch after running outside in the rain

I heard from my work that if you shampoo carpet it will attract dirt easier.  So I'm assuming that the same is true for your capet.  I also scotch guard my couches.  Maybe after it's cleaned you can put that protection on there to last a little longer?
