Confessions?

Since it's so slow around here and I'm bored, anyone have any good Friday confessions?

    • I want to go kick the people in the cube next to me really really hard in the shins.
    • I have to be around someone tonight I almost got a restraining order on so I'm not to thrilled about that.
    • I leave work early today, so I'm trying to do the base minimum until I get to leave.
    • I never knew butt muscles could hurt so much.

I also have more, but people will have to email me for them.

  • My confession...

I absolutely hate it when grown women refer to their periods as Aunt Flow. The term sounds so stupid, just call it your PERIOD. This is something I see all over the nest/bump and every time I read "Aunt Flow" Or AF, I cringe.

Eva, I feel the EXACT same way!

Mine is kind of lame and kind of long & rambley, but whatever....I have to go to my older daughter's school at 2 for a meeting with her Social Studies teacher because she is failing.  Seriously, she was a straight A student up until this year and what is so hard about 6th grade Social Studies?  I'm so mad at her because I know she CAN do it, she's just gotten very lazy.  We're out of punishments for her and everything has been taken away, including ballet, which I thought would be the clincher for her.  It was kind of painful for me to take that away because she loves it so much and she's been taking ballet since she was 3.  The only thing I have left to take away is letting her go to my parents' house on the weekend and if I take that away, it's like a punishment for me because I like it when the kids are gone on weekends.  Yes, I am selfish like that.

  • Kristy,

I don't know your daughter, so maybe I'm completely off base, but your post made me think of a workshop I went to recently. The host/trainer was the author of The Shut Down Learner. It was informative. Google it, and good luck with everything. :)

  • I've been secretly hoping our company cancels for tonight so we don't have set plans...but it doesn't look like that's happening : ) I'm not sure why I care - I'm not really entertaining b/c we're going out to dinner.

Kristy when my sister was having the same problem when we were younger my parents started rewarding her for the good grades and eventually my mom sat down at the table with her and learned everything right along with her every night.

It was my middle sister and as soon as my mom would sit down with just her for half an hour a night for her to "teach" her what she learned she did a lot better.

I don't have kids, but it's just a thought that worked for my mom.

  • Kristy, that happend to me when I was about your daughters age. I was being lazy. When my mom would punish me I'd just do worse to be defiant and stubborn. Looking back on it I really needed a strict schedule about getting my homework done because I had terrible study habits ( and kept them all through college). So maybe Ballet would be good for her to keep because its a very regimented discipline... good luck with everything...

     and another confession-

Marriage is way more awesome than I ever could have imagined. Whenever someone asks me how I like being married, I have to hold myself back from geeking completely out and gushing about how wonderful it is.

  • UGH...My husband wants a dog.

Now, I know alot of you ladies are dog owners and I do really like dogs but he wants a lab.  I have to be honest with you all...I have never actually owned a pet.  I think it would be fun, I know it's work but I would like a dog.  Why though is the only dog that he wants a black lab?  I'm nervous that hair will be everywhere, my house will smell like a dog and I just think it will be too big.

He says he wants to drive it around in his truck with him...ummm...ok.  I went from never wanting an aniaml, to a medium size dog...that would work but he's so stuck on this lab.

    What to do????

  • Thanks guys!  I do sit with the girls every day after school to do homework with them.  We have a routine, as soon as they walk in homework gets done immediately before TV or Wii, going to the park, anything else.  It's kind of funny because we just started that this school year and I've seen a HUGE improvement in my younger daughter.  She also has an awesome teacher, though, so I'm sure that helps.)  I told her all she has to do is bring her grade up to a C and I'll let her take the summer ballet program so she won't be too behind the other girls next year, so we shall see.  Alicia, I'm googling that now, thank you so much for the rec!

Another confession, I'm starving & stressed out and just ate half of the baguette I got to have with dinner tonight.

Liz would you like to borrow my dog for the weekend to see if you are dog people?  Mind you he's already trained, but it's a start.  You know with walking him, feeding him, taking him to potty, being home at specific times, etc..
  • Natalie, I think that's an awesome idea!  I actually already put a phone call into his aunt asking to borrow her dog!  LOL...I think I'd be fine really but labs do get big..he's just acting like a child.  When I ask why a lab he says "b/c there so cool"  is he 17 or something??  WTF!
  • I found the perfect picture frames at Target to hold our table name postcards and went to about 6 Targets to clear out their stock of them. They were seasonal and priced higher than I wanted to spend on a boatload of frames. It was something over $300...

After the honeymoon I returned any frames ( with the receipts) that hadn't gotten ganked at the wedding by a certain drunk aunt.

    flameable. yes.

  • I have been cryign since I watched Greys. I feel like such a baby

I tried eating healthy today, and ended up eating extremelly bad

I need to clean right now, but rather just be lazy

  • I have a huge headache and it's probably my body telling me that I shouldn't have gone to Wegmans just for dark chocolate covered almonds.  Pathetic!

I spent way too much money already this weekend.
