Our cake top in freezer when should I defrost it

Hello everyone & Happy 1 year anniversary !

Yeah we made it !!   It went so fast.

Can you give me your advice when to defrost our cake
Our  anniversary  date is  4.28.08

PS  I got my DH  a watch & wallet  our plans for the anniversary  is a nice steak dinner  (we are saving for our first house by this September)

Re: Our cake top in freezer when should I defrost it

  • I have no idea.  We didn't do that.  The thought of eating freezer burnt year old cake grosses us both out.

    Sorry.

  • I think I'll take mine out the day before and put it in the fridge. Then I'll leave it on the counter on our anniversary.
  • I was wondering the same thing. I'm going to do some research. Hopefully its not really frezeerburnt!!
  • We didn't save ours, so I'm thinking about baking a red velvet cake (that was our wedding cake flavor), but it all depends on whether I have time.
  • Our cake vendor gave us a gift certificate for a fresh cake topper on our anniversary- yummy - carrot cake with cream cheese frosting to top off my prime rib dinner my DH is taking me out to!!

Good luck with the frozen cake!
  • I took ours out a couple of days before to defrost in the fridge... I'm glad we got dessert in the restaurant because the cake was nasty! The marzipan had become all liquidy and soaked through the cake.... plus the cake was rather heavy.... hope it wasn't heavy last year we never got to taste it then to find out!!!!
  • Happy Anniversary!  We didn't save ours...hope yours is good!  I'm sure you've already defrosted by now.

We actually went back to the place that did our cake and got a replica of our top tier...it is soooo yummy!  I think we're going to make this a tradition each year...at least as long as we live in the area!
