Which doctor should I call? I'm almost 27 weeks pregnant and I've had a cold for about a week now. I saw my OB on Wednesday and mentioned it but she didn't seem concerned. Said I may cough for 10-14 days.
I woke up today feeling worse than I have in the past few days. I'm thinking I need to see a doctor to put an end to this. Would you call your regular doctor or OB?
Thanks!
Re: Which doctor?
I would say your PCP - but he/she is probably going to say the same thing. A cold/virus is not something that can be treated it has to "run it's course" for about 10 days.
I'd call my OB. When I was pregnant my OB took care of everything for me...not just the baby/delivery.
But, like some one said...it will probably just have to run it's course no matter who you call.
You are PG your OB becomes your PCP. I would only be going to my OB. They know your condition better and what is best for you and Baby.
When I was PG both time (2 different OB) they told me they were the only Dr. to see while being PG.
I can sympathize with you 100%. I had a cold for about a week, but then it turned into a sinus infection. I couldn't take it anymore and called the OB office. They said to call the PCP. They coudn't get me in for a week, so I went up to the minor emerg clinic yesterday (this is all on-base military care mind you). That would have been fine, but being 27 wks preg, they made me go up to the ob ward and sit w/ a baby monitor on for 2 hours, measuring her heartbeat (which was fine) and contractions (which there were none of course). After they were convinced she was fine, I went back down to the minor emerg and saw a dr and got some meds. It was a 4 hour ordeal. Ridiculous! But, I guess better safe than sorry....
Long story short, I'd call your ob first and see what they say.?
