Absecon/Egg Harbor Area-Pros/Cons?
DH may be getting a new job at the FAA (AC airport area) so we are looking at houses in this area including Linwood, Northfield, Absecon and Egg Harbor Twp. Can anyone tell me about these areas-pros and cons?
Our #1 requirement is being about 5-6 miles from the beach. TIA!!

Re: Absecon/Egg Harbor Area-Pros/Cons?
I'm not sure about Absecon, but Egg Harbor is further from the beach depending on what part you're in. My friend lived there and was about 20 min from the beach.
Somers Point is nice and very close to Ocean City. Northfield and Linwood are also good options - close to Margate or Ocean City. My ex grew up in Northfield and went to Mainland. He liked it and it seemed like a nice area.
I just moved to egg harbor in september. I grew up in cape may, and know what you mean about needing to be near the beach. where im at in eht im right near the parkway so 10 mins. to either ocean city or atlantic city (i prefer OC beaches) egg harbor township itself is a pretty big area, so it depends on where you are looking as to how close you could be to the beach.. We are currently looking for houses towards the steelmaville area which is the south end of eht, closer to somers point... and the beach.
we like the area, but im not really thrilled with the schools. elem. schools are alright but for the size of the area ther is only 1 jr high and hs and im not thrilled with those schools, but not a huge concern for us right now since we dont have any children, and by the time we have school aged children, who knows where will be.
Linwood and northfield are both nice areas too, and they do have the better schools. Wish I could afford to live in linwood, but those homes are still out of our affordability right bow. and again, both are about 10 minute drive to the beach.
Have you thought about finding a short term lease to get to know the area before making the commitment ot buy a house? i know its a pain to move around a lot ina short time span, but it may be worth it to find which area works best for you. Sorry this got a little long, hope it helped a bit
