Suggestions please!

My stupid dog keeps finding her way up onto the couch and sleeping there all night, getting her fur all over! ?So every day I have to use a lint roller to get her fur off the couch. ?I have tried to put foil on the couch because I know they do not like the crinkle, but it looks so tacky! ?It really is just for over night, but I came down this morning and she must have moved the foil over so she could lay down. ?She was broken of this habit and then stayed at my inlaws for a week, and then when she got back, started up again on the couch. ?Any more suggestions besides foil to keep her off the couch? ?We will be getting new couches soon and she needs to be broken of this habit by then! ?Help!

Re: Suggestions please!

  • Do you have a dog bed for her or even a crate?  You could maybe get her trained to sleep on the dog bed and let her have her own space to get all hairy.  Otherwise my suggestion would be either crate her overnight or maybe get one of those fleece dog blankets to cover the couch at night.  good luck!
  • She does have a dog bed and sleeps in it during the day and at night before we go to bed. ?Its as soon as we go up she sneaks onto the couch. ?Like I said, before she was broken of sleeping on the couch, spent a week with my inlaws, and was right back up there. ?She used to sleep under our bed. ?Its so frustrating!
  • is there any way you can block off the room so she can't get to the sofa?
  • A co-worker had this problem w/ her dog. She got mouse traps and they laid about 3 layers of newspaper on top of them (so the mouse trap wouldn't actually get the dog just the paper.). She said it took her dog one time to get on the sofa, she hasn't got back up since.

  • We have a really tall baby gate but she can jump over it when she really wants to...I like the mousetrap idea, haha. ?We have to put a can of coins on the trash so she does not get into it, haha.
