It just keeps getting better...

Remember the CW from the ridiculous wedding registry items post?

Well I come back to work today after being on vacation to find a wedding invitation at my desk for his wedding. Back story here: CW was engaged to the same girl 4 yrs ago until she called it a month before saying she wasnt sure he was the one. They eventually got back together, got engaged again and now are getting married.

Anyway I open the invitation to find that the RSVP card was the RSVP cards they had purchased for their original wedding! I only know this because the original RSVP date from 4 yrs ago is still ON THE CARD and they just printed labels with the new RSVP date and placed them over the old date!!! Plus the RSVP envelope has the old 42 cent stamps on it and they put additional postage to cover the difference.

I havent decided if they're just super cheap or crazy! Maybe its just me but I dont think I'd keep the stationary from my cancelled wedding.

  • I guess this rough economy is affecting us all in VERY different ways? I can laugh because I don't know this person, right?

    This

I'm not sure I would be having a big wedding if I had already called it off once. Tongue Tied I wonder if they sent all the gifts back the last time

  • Maybe you can send them the gift you intended to give them four years ago, with the original gift receipt, gift wrap, and everything.
  • Well, at least the stuff is for the same two people.

It would be worse if a label was used to cover a different name.

  • I'm picturing D reading this post and scratching her head wondering what you are talking about.  Cuz I think she sent out Christmas cards this year that were from 2 years ago.
  • In D's defense, Christmas does occur every year...on the same day, no less.
  • I'm guilty of recycling leftover Christmas cards myself but I do try and space them out when I can or send them to different people if possible

I am a bit curious though if CW had planned on reusing the RSVP cards had he gotten engaged to someone else. Either way at least I got a good laugh out of it on my first day back to work after my vacation.

And they sell the same ones every year, so who would know.

  • IHYR!

And yes I used the same Christmas cards, although I did agonize about it a while.

Am I horrible that I might have done the same thing as your cw if money were an issue even in the least bit?  Hmmm.

YLM.  And btw - I don't think there is anything wrong with it.  I probably would have done the same thing too...but I'm cheap and tacky.

  • I would have probably reused if it didn't need a label.

slapping a label on the RSVP card = tacky

  • I think it's super tacky when I get an insert printed on regular paper that tells me where they are registered.  Am I the only one who thinks that's tacky?

What about printing in the invite that says "Money Tree Available and Preferred"?

    Yup - my cousins.

    Surprise

  • Not to mention putting the invite on your desk instead of mailing it (although that is really the least of their transgressions).

Wow thats worse than the invitation we got that said "Please No Boxed Gifts"  Took us awhile to figure out that they meant give us cash.

I'm actually surprised that he included a stamped RSVP envelope and didnt include a work inter-office envelope for the RSVP instead (which I actually had another CW do btw).

  • I received an email from my MIL that she received a wedding invite for the whole family. So that includes H's parents, H's brother and his wife, H and I and H's little sister who is 21. I think it is rude and lazy not to send separate invites to adult children who are married and live else where. Based solely on that fact, I am not attending the wedding.
