Any employees of Children Courtyard?

I have an interview tomorrow, and I know they will ask me what my salary desire is.  I don't want to aim to high, but I also don't want to ask for something when I could have made more.  I tried searching online what pre k teachers (with a bach. degree) there make but couldn't find anything.

Anyone have an idea around what they make?

Re: Any employees of Children Courtyard?

  • Our son does not attend Children's Courtyard, but I know that his daycare teacher makes $9/hour.  I am not sure of her education though.
  • Child care teachers in Texas are paid abysmally.  My suggestion is to ask for $12.  When I was calling around before we moved down here I had no idea what to ask for and someone finally told me that the absolute most she could offer me was $11.25.  It was quite an eye opener and, after a bit more searching, I felt like it was pretty standard.  FWIW, I had a bachelor's degree and 4 years experience at the time.
  • The company that owns Children's Courtyard does not pay well. I have worked both at Children's Courtyard and another one of that companys centers. I think you are better off to ask high, $12-13/hr. You most likely will not get that much. With a bachelor's degree and working on my Master's I made $9/hr with that company. After I graduated with my Master's while I was still looking for a job in my field I was at a different company making $11/hr.

Let me know if you have any questions about the company.

  • I worked at a Primrose with a Bachelor's and a minor in education. One of them offered me a whopping $8.20. At best I got offered $9.15. It's horrible.. When I was a hostess in high school, I made $9.25!

  • Not sure of Children's Courtyard. But I do know that I had a bachelor's degree in elementary education and was a certified teacher- working for Kindercare I only made about $8/hr. I was doing it part time after school, but it didn't matter. I was still one of the higher paid ones there- it's quite sad really!
  • What Courtyard are you interviewing at?

I know it depends some if you are the "lead" teacher or the assistant...I know that the teachers at our Courtyard (Grapevine) really love working there and make "enough" that they stay for a long time...they are all long timers.

  • They are building a new one in Lake Worth near the TCC NW campus.. That is where I'll be applying.  I'm applying for the lead position, and I have a bachelors degree.. but now I'm very very worried, I was hoping for around 32,000 a year, I cannot make less than that ugh!!

You won't make that working at a Courtyard, or any daycare. Most directors barely make that much.

You might check somewhere that does preschool at a private school (like a Christian school or other private school that goes at least through 5th grade). They might pay better.

You are not going to come anywhere close to that working in child care in this area.  Sorry.  Sad  I cried when I found out how much child care teachers make.  I took a 40% pay cut when I moved down here and I was doing the same job.  The area just blows in that respect.

Since you have a bachelor's, have you tried looking at school districts?  Maybe see what the para-professionals (or whatever they call their teaching aides) are making if a teaching position isn't available.  Also, if you do some tutoring over the summer you can start socking away some money.  Best of luck to you!

I don't think they make that much... I have a 4 month old (daycare) and student loans, so anything less than what I said earler would be pointless working.. so frustrating
