D40 owners

Do you guys use the Nikon bag that came with the camera?  I thought I remembered you guys all buying additional bags?

Re: D40 owners

  • I never change the lens or carry much at all so I still use the original bag.  At one point I was shopping for a different one, and I kept price shopping until eventually my interest in my camera went away so I had no need for a new bag.  I am determined to start using it again though.  I think.

  • I bought a small, red Crumpler bag for mine.
  • My camera did not come with a bag.

    I have the following:
    Lowepro SlingShot 100
    Shootsac
    Acme Made Bowler Bag

I highly recommend the Lowepro Slingshot 100.  It is well-padded and great for travel.  The Shootsac is nice if you're actually shooting and not storing your camera; it's not good for real protection, though.  The Bowler Bag is fantastic if you're toting just the one lens attached to your body and no other lenses -- cute and well-padded but very limited in capacity.

If you'd like to just throw your camera in your regular bag, I suggest that you get a neoprene pouch like the OP/TECH, but nothing will cradle your camera as well as a true camera bag.  I love my camera too much not to keep it as safe as possible.

  • mine didn't come with one, but the store that we bought it from threw one it.  it's dorky, but i'm using it since it was "free."

i saw the lowepro slingshot 200 at costco for $67.99.  that's about the price the 100 usually is online.  lots of good reviews on that one, and weemo usually carries that one.

  • I have a lowepro slingshot 100 too. It's held up really well even after a year of my abuse.
  • Lowepro all the way. I've now owned 3 different bags from them. I'm currently using the Fastpack 250. I like it because it fits my laptop, but it still doesn't have enough room so I use a flight case on wheels when I travel.
  • Mine came with the black and yellow bag and I use that.  It has compartments for everything and was made for it, so I didn't feel the need to buy another one.  I'm cheap and it works just fine!
  • I just bought that neoprene sleeve that weemo mentioned, so we'll see how it goes. I'm not in the mood to shell out for a new bag yet, so I'll just keep using an old one I have from previous travel stuff.
