All of my friends at work heard about teaching summer school last week, and I never did, so I thought I was off the hook. Since I don't have a contract at school, I was totally looking forward to sitting around all summer and collecting unemployment until I heard about my job for next year.
Well, I heard from summer school today and I am working it. :-( If you guys know me at all, you know I HATE summer school, but I need the money. It's more than UE, but MAN, over the past week I had really sold myself on the idea of my summer of leisure. I was so looking forward to it.
BAH.
Re: UGH
{{H+P}}
you'll still get a few weeks off before and after summer school, yes?
Like 1 week before and 2 weeks after...IF I have a job. Better than nothing.
I know.
I SO should not be complaining here. I am just feeling like a brat.
1 week before and 2 weeks after? omg no sympathy from me!!
It's not paid time off or anything. I don't get paid when I am not working.
is there a big purchase you've been wanting to make? I'd take the funds gained from summer school and buy something fun.
This post makes me sound like such a whiner.
I'm GLAD to have a job over the summer. But you know when you picture collecting unemployment and reading at the beach all summer...and then you find out you'll actually be spending it with bratty teenagaers. It's just a shock.
I'm just having a bad day. No need to feel sorry for me. Move along.
I've heard sept is a great time to go to the beach. plus, all of the brats are back in school.
sorry, that totally sucks.
confession: i am kind of hoping i don't get this job i interviewed for last week (i should know by tomorrow). this lady of leisure thing is fun. although i could use the $, of course.
Sorry you are bummed.
That being said, most people work all year long....

They don't do it at my school. :- I'm going to a school where the kids are EVEN BRATTIER than my kids, if you can believe that.
Have you considered just rejecting the offer to do summer school or is this not a reasonable option?
Oh, I could do that. It's more $$ than unemployment and it is really not that bad a gig. I just like to complain. Esp. today...I am feeling like an emo teenager.
I expect no sympathy from any of you.
Yeah I always though summer school was optional.
well, this is a given - they are having to go to summer school afterall.
Well, I really need the $$ since I don't have a job for next year, you know?
I was excited about the idea of not doing it, but I can't turn down a perfectly good job when I am literally unemployed as of June 12th.
:-
complain, complain, complain
At least you'll have the extra money though!
Um, yeah, no sympathy from me Y_L.
xoxo, from the unemployment line
Even on UE I can afford to buy you a drink though, yo!
