Re: FFF
I find it sad that I go over to the knot when this board is really dead just out of boredom and not really to give advice. I can't really complain though because I never start interesting posts or help make our nest board more active.
I know I need to be pumping more at work but we rarely ever close our office doors and I don't want to make people uncomfortable knowing I am pumping. I mean, I don't want to leave a sign on the door that says 'Pumping' but I definitely don't want someone to walk in after just knocking. One of the ladies stated that everyone would know what I was doing, but I have a good feeling some idiot would forget and that would be embarrassing. I hate that I feel this way at pumping or even BFIP when it should be natural.
I was a troll once on the knot - it was super fun
now come flame me!!!!!!!
gawd no!
on the national boards
I thought of creating an AE just this week for the 0-6 board because I would love to rip some of those girls a new one. I find it so annoying how they have to keep attacking each other for no reason other than they don't like each other. But I decided against it since I don't care enough and I'm too lazy to put in that much effort.
it did get old - and I figured I may as well just rip her right to her face instead of being chicken and hiding behind another name
but it did entertain me for awhile there
Ok, I'll play.Random observation from the concert I went to last Friday
Guys- Popped collars were never cool and the still make you look like a tool
Girls- Just because you are at a country concert doesn't mean that you have to wear boots, or daisy dukes, or both.
Our stupid pool is green. We have been actively trying to fix it for weeks and it is really bugging me. It is so bad that this week the d*mn ducks have shown up. Yeah, so each morning I have to go chase ducks out of my pool.
It doesn't matter what I eat I continue to gain weight, it isn't worth it anymore, I am going to Whataburger and then I am heading over to Jack in a Box and trying those Mini Sirloin Burger *singing the song in my head*
Oh no, purplegirl! There is nothing worse than trying to de-green a pool that's being stubborn. What have you tried so far? The easiest method we've found is this:
1. Superchlorinate - just shock the heck out of it and run your pump on the filter setting full force for 24 hours.
2. Flock - once the 24 hours has passed, squirt/pour flocculent all over the surface (we like Sink 'n Sweep from Home Depot -- it's literally 1/4 of the price of stuff you buy at pool stores). This will make all the crap stick together and sink to the bottom. Run the pump on "recirculate or circulate" for 2 hours after your pour the flock on the pool (DO NOT put it in the skimmer basket!) and then turn the pump off and let the flock do it's thing for at least 12 hours.
3. Come back 12 hours later and the water should be fairly clear (maybe some spots on the surface, but most everything should be stuck to the bottom of the pool) and vacuum your pool to waste (make sure the pump is set on "waste" and not any other setting -- we made this mistake several times early on) and add new water if needed. Leave your pump off, because the flock will continue to work over the next couple of days, so you may have to vacuum it again.
We just did this after heavy rains (our lot is heavily wooded, so anytime we get heavy woods we get tons of leaves/pollen in the pool and it greens up almost immediately, unless I can chlorinate it before the rains start) this past weekend and our pool was sparkly again in two days. It did take me two vacuumings -- I did it once at 8 am and then came back again at 8 pm and that was all it took.
If you've tried this already, sorry! We've found this method pretty foolproof -- it does take two days to get it done right, but it works for us every time.
A woman in my office has a "do not disturb" sign when she's pumping. We all know what she means, and nobody has ever walked in on her. And usually she turns up the thermostat a bit before she shuts her door, so we know it's coming.
Thanks, MrsB2007! We have actually tried a combination of most of the things you mentioned (except the flock). After the pool guy looked at it yesterday it appears that it isn't exactly the chemicals causing the issues. Apparently our filter is too small for our pool, the in-floor filtration should be on a separate pump and a few other installation issues. The pool builder won't return our phone calls (we have been trying to contact him regarding another issue) so it looks like we are either out a ton of money to get it up to where it should be mechanically or out a ton of money consulting a lawyer.
The pool guy put a ton of chemcials in yesterday and said that it should be cleaned up but our pool is going to struggle because of the equipment issues. And as of this morning it looks worse than it did yesterday!! At least I haven't spotted the ducks today, yet!
Ooooh, that is bad!
The flock is seriously a miracle worker. And as relatively cheap as it is at Home Depot is should help you keep it clear for while (just a little more work). It was our last resort when we were originally figuring things out, and now we won't go back to any other method. Even if your filter is too small, this will allow to vacuum all the crap out!
We have poor circulation on the bottom because we don't have a drains/returns on the bottom, just one at the skimmer, and we found that adding a robotic cleaner (which stirs up the water and also acts as a filter) helped immensely. I bought mine (a Dolphin Diagnostic) from Craiglist for like $125, including shipping. You can get one at Leslie's for like $699 (although I think that version doesn't climb the pool walls, but you might not care about that). When our pump/filter was on the fritz last year, we just the Dolphin every day and it worked to keep the pool sparkling clean even without the filter/pump!
Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions. My neighbor has a pool company and is always happy to answer questions -- she is really helpful!
