Ugh...how long is this birthday party going to go

I love my in laws and all but seriously? We've been sitting outside in a windy pavillion for an hour already and we're doing nothing. Ugh. It doesn't help that I didn't sleep well and worked this morning so I could definitely find other ways to sit and around and do nothing.

  • Oh I feel for you...been there...done that!  I am way to "organized" and "ocd" to just sit and do nothing at a party for an hour!

Yeah maybe its just since I'm not a mom.  I just don't get why people would think it would be fun to sit around and do nothing but watch complete strangers kids run around like a bunch of hellions for the first 1.5 hours of a party THEN have pizza delivered.  Next year I'm showing up late...LOL.

  • Were you my DH's family kids birthday party? Sounds just like his cousin!

LOL...maybe they are long lost cousins :)  I seriously wanted to shoot myself.  My nephew and goddaughter/neice are some of the sweetest kids ever but my nephew's one friend and the kids father are the most rude, self-centered people ever.  This year and last year I watched this particular kid rip the newly opened presents out of my nephew's hands so he could play with them.  Of course the Dad just kept saying c'mon now stop doing that in a real passive voice.

  • DH's cousins have these huge blow-out parties for both their kids.  They invite family and friends...making for a total of about 100 people (totally not kidding here!).  As guests, DH and I don't even get to hardly see their child or them.  Last year, their older son's birthday (4th to be exact) was held on July 4th and about a week after I had my foot surgery.  I was still on crutches.  We came, made our appearance and left after about 1 1/2 hours.  There were 20 kids at least and they were running around...knocking into my crutches and my foot.  Not too mention the 5 dogs (2 of theirs and 3 that other family had brought)...who were all big and (all but 1) totally out of control.  Thank god we had our 2 dogs at home and could use that as an excuse to leave early.  DH and I always joke around that their kids are our birth control.  I tell him that I can feel my ovaries shriveling up from the fear!
