I am MOH in a July wedding for a soon-to-be relative. One of the other BMs - without first checking with the rest of the bridal party - sent out an invite on Facebook for the bride's bachelorette party... and unfortunately, it is on a date that I absolutely cannot attend, nor can one of the other bridesmaids (I mean, really? Who DOES that before checking with the rest of the bridal party?).
All irritation aside, my SIL and another of the bride's friends cannot attend, either, so we're thinking that instead, we'll do a girls' day/weekend a few weeks earlier. One bridesmaid lives in Philly, the rest of us are northern MD and south-central PA area, so it looks like a good halfway point would probably be Harrisburg/Hershey, but we are fine with just about anywhere. Any suggestions of something that would be fun to do?
Re: Ideas for a girls' day/weekend?
Wow Ashlee, I'm sorry this happened, and for the lovely bride's sake too! I never understand if people just don't care enough to think about other people or really have their head in a hole and don't understand common courtesy to check with others and not just themselves! Pet peeve...
Anyway, I'm not coming up with much in the Harrisburg/Hershey area really, but the following crossed my mind...
-Day/night in Philly and stay with friend? or hotel? See a show, downtown, etc?
-Beach weekend (my girls did this and it was perfect!) Again, a drive though but can be pretty inexpensive when split among a group.
-Of course, Hershey comes to mind with ?nice pampering, shopping, the park. But that is BIG bucks!?
I'm sure those who are local will have good ideas. Good luck, I hope that you find something/somewhere that she'll enjoy!
Jen, I thought of the spa idea immediately, too. I'll have to do some checking. The seafood restaurant sounds yummy, too!
Megan, it's Laura's b-party. I don't know any of her other BMs (they're all childhood friends from her hometown area), so that hasn't helped the situation. Yes, pet peeve of mine, too, and it really just boils down to common sense, but whatever. What's done is done. Moving away seems to have given me a total drain on ideas for things to do, and in my own hometown area, to boot... which means here I am, asking for ideas.
I was thinking about Hershey, too, for either spa or the park... tickets can be had for reasonable deals. AND - off-topic, but I don't think I've told you congrats yet! Keeping my fingers crossed that all progresses smoothly for you!!!
Thanks for the start in helping me to figure something out.
... every single day of forever.
I'm sorry this happened, for Laura's sake especially. The spa would be incredible but I agree, it could get pricey. Perhaps you could check into a smaller spa that you could have lunch at together and relax with a little pampering.
I hope it works out and you can come up with something great.
A lot of spas do bridal party packages.
I like the beach idea as well. Between the group of you, you could probably rent a nice condo or beach house at a decent cost. Espeically since it'll just be for the weekend. You have the jersey shore, OC, AC.... a bunch of different options. just look for vacation or beach rentals.
