What to do about sisters BM dress?

Well of course my girls BM's dressed came in today..what else. So what do I do?  My sister will be 9 months pregnant....we are going to reorder but how much bigger should she go.

Re: What to do about sisters BM dress?

  • Are you getting any sort of refun or exchange? If not, I would just wait til the wedding got closer and have her wear a maternity dress that would be a smiliar color, rather than the EXACT dress.
  • I think they say 2 sizes or you could order extra fabric and have panels put in.  Is she your MOH?  You could always order a maternity dress for her if you don't mind hers being different.  I think Jasmine has a maternity BM line.
  • I haven't called yet so I'll have to see what they'll do...she's the maid of honor so her wearing a different dress is fine.  They said they needed them paid in full in two weeks so hopefully I can have them hold back on hers and give it a little time.  She still wants to wear the same dress and it flows nicely so hopefully they'll come up with something.
  • Ditto what Krista said.

I was in a wedding once where the MOH was 8 months pg and the seamstress just took the fabric she cut off the hems to make panels to put into the dress.

  • I went through the same thing with my sister for my wedding. ?I just went to David's and got a maternity dress in the same color (navy) from the clearance rack. ?I think it cost me $40, but she was so much more comfortable and it fit in really well with the rest of the dresses. ?Good luck!
  • I don't have any suggestions for you because my sister opted to wear a maternity dress (separates by Jordan) and I HATED it.
  • I had two friends who were very pregnant and bms in weddings...

one opted to order in a bigger size and the seamstress workde wonders to make it fir her...

the other ordered a maternity dress (I think Jim Helm sp?) and it looked great as well...

It can't hurt to look into some of the maternity styles.  There are some really cute ones out there but as Kristy said, some can be not so great.

  • I called country way and they were very nice....I laughed b/c when I told the girl when she was due she just went "Oh wow...how did she let that happen"  They are going to keep her dress and order extra fabric to add side panels which is only gonna cost an extra $20 so that works out well.  The dress is a-line so she said there would be no problem with her wearing in that pregnant unless she gets huge but of course we won't know that until closer too.  Worse case scenario she gets a maternity eveing gown in gold..it won't match the girls but it will compliment them and I really don't care as long as she there
