Add us to the list :(

My DH lost his job yesterday. I don't even know how to feel right now. I'm in shock and a little scared. I know a lot of you are going through the same thing. I'm trying to be positive, but it's really hard.

  • Try and stay positive. I just went thought this with my DH. When he was laid off, we freaked out, cutting every additional expense possible and it was so stressful. But it all worked out in the end, he found a position with a competitor and it actually turned out to be a pay raise for him.

one thing that we did was start telling everyone what line of work, he is in, and see if they know anyone in that line of work. I actually just interviewed for a position that I found out about by talking to a stranger at a babyshower 2 weeks ago. You never know what can happen.

    Sorry you're going through this.

What kind of work does he do?

  • Thanks everyone. DH was a computer programmer for banking software and most recently was a Microsoft Sharepoint consultant. He also has his MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer).

  • I'm so sorry. Sending thoughts and prayers your way.
  • I understand how stressful this is as we went through this over the last year. ?One thing I learned was I couldn't get my hopes up when he went on interviews because the roller coaster of emotions was too much when he ended up not getting that job. ?So, as hard as it is, just try to keep an even keel and be that steady rock for him through the ups and downs of the interview process and try not to get excited until he actually gets a job offer. ?I learned that was important for my own sanity and it helped DH deal with the rejections better, too. ?I hope his down time is short!

  • WOW! I'm so sorry to hear this news. DH was laid off in December and is still looking for work. He's finding that IT jobs are very hard to come by right now since the industry is being flooded with applicants. Good luck to our DH and I hope he finds something soon. ((((HUGS))))
