Day 7! One week down! And a question for everyone!

My legs are a special kind of sore this morning....my hamstrings hurt from all the gardening I did on Sunday, and of course my quads are in the eternal state of pain from the shred...

Ok, here's today's question -

Whether you are doing the 30 DS or not, what is your fitness goal?  Do you have a certain weight you would like to be at, or a certain physical milestone you'd like to accomplish (like running a marathon!)?

Mine is silly - I have THREE suits that I bought in law school that have size 4 bottoms.  I have since become a solid size 6.  These are expensive suits, and they are sitting in my closet unworn because I can't get them over my butt.  My goal is to fit into these suits! The jackets are fine, it's the bottoms that need the work.

My lawschool self would be in utter shock and horror if she knew that, three years later, I'd be looking back on my body then and wishing I could look like that again - by the time I was in law school, I had already gained 10-15 pounds since college!  In total, I'm about 25 pounds heavier than I was in college.  I'm not kidding myself that I'll ever be that skinny again (I had dance practice for three hours a day, for one), but I'd like to be my law school weight.

And fit into those damn suits!!

Re: Day 7! One week down! And a question for everyone!

  • I'm not doing the Shred, even though DH and i Netflixed it and it's sitting in our dvd player from the 2 total times we've done it...and we've had it for a month and a half! Oy.

My fitness goal is to get rid of my 'secretary spread' and to finally have a toned stomach. I've been doing ballet for 20 years now and i *know* what kind of shape i can be in! Dancing 3 act ballets can do that to you! Wink But moving to NYC 6 years ago meant that dance classes were no longer free (like they finally got to be at my home dance studio) and free time became shorter as i got more involved in theatre. I'm taking a ballet class now (actually, this is the last week) at a gymnastics studio where my friend's mom is the teacher. The class is super cheap for a full school year, but it's way basic and not enough of a challenge to get me back to where i was. I'm looking into splurging on some classes throughout the summer and possibly the fall cuz i'm going to apply to get my MA in Dance Education and i don't want to feel like a big fat heffer cow during the audition.

Awesomely, my work offers half priced gym memberships to NYSC and NYHRC. Sadly, i've been at this job for 2 years and i've never taken advantage of this opportunity. Sad I keep thinking that i should, but i don't. I just want to feel better about my body, be more toned and have more energy! Wouldn't that be motivation enough to get to a gym?

  • I'm doing ok in terms of soreness - but i do notice my knees bother me during some of the strength exercises. not sure if thats the muscles or what.

anyways - I have a psuedo specific goal(s). 1) I'd like to lose enough to get down to a size 8. I was a size 6 in high school and I don't think i'll ever get back there. I think about 20lbs less would make me happier.

    2) I really want to lose a good deal before we start TTC in August. or at least get myself in better shape.

    3) I started doing a running workout (doing intervals of running/walking) that slowly builds up to running for 30min or a 5K race. I'd like to do at least one 5K this summer.

so yes, all of the above. Big Smile

  • Last summer, my goal was to be able to run a 5K by this summer.  But I discovered (reaffirmed, actually), that I really, really, really despise running.  So, I gave up on that after a few months of trying.  Maybe after I finishe the 30 DS, I'll give the running thing another shot.  I imagine it would be easier this time areound since I'll (hopefully) be in better cardio shape, and be stronger, from completeing the shred!

  • I'm doing the shred. My goal is to lose 26 pounds so that I can wear all my pre-pregnancy clothes. My are all boxed up so I don;t have to look at the pitiful sight. Forgot to add I'm on day 4.
  • I got up this morning and did the shred - this reaffirmed that I don't like working out in the morning. :)

I have two workout goals. My first is that I decided I wanted to run a 10k before I turn 30 - so I'm running in my first (and my last) this weekend. Preparing for this has shown me that I was not born to run.

My main, everyday, workout goal is to get rid of the 4 extra pounds that I put on over the winter and get toned. I know that I'm fine right now, but unless I stay on top of my workouts and my eating habits I can fall fast. I just need a kick right now to get remotivated with my healthy habits - which is why I'm trying 30DS right now.
