I still don't understand why people hate NJ.....?
What is that makes NJ so bad and why do people make fun of it?? I've spent some time in Ocean City and although it wasn't much to do there it was still a very nice area! After watching the "Housewives of NJ" I try to get a glimpse of the Garden State and from what I see I think it looks very nice. I love all the green areas and that you're still close to NY if you'd like to go into they city. You are close to a lot of interesting places. So please inform me why people seem to be so against this what I think looks like a great place to live??
Re: I still don't understand why people hate NJ.....?
honestly, I don't think there's really anything wrong with NJ it's just that it's not NY (but nothing is). I do have to laugh at a lot of NJ people though that have the big hair and the whole guido thing going on, but there's A LOT of this on SI as well.
P.S. I'm loving RHNJ
Traffic. I hate that getting there takes forever because there is always traffic. And I hate that the entire state is just series of highways....miss your exit? Too bad! You can't get off at the next exit and turn around, because the next exit is JUST ANOTHER HIGHWAY!
Aside from my issues with driving there, I don't have a problem with the state.
I'm a Jersey girl, and don't hate it. Of course, I am also quick to make the distinction that I am from "South Jersey" and not "North Jersey". (which in itself is inexact as technically the most northern parts of New Jersey are mountainous, rural and beautiful)
But I think that New Jersey is a lovely state and home to some of my favorite places in the world. I just think it gets a bad rap from some of it's most densely populated areas. (Kind of like thinking that all of Michigan is like Detroit, or all of New York is like New York City)
And, I have seen MANY similarities between urban New Jersey, areas of Long Island, Staten Island, lower Westchester County and some of the NYC boroughs.
I'm with Danielle... I really hate driving in NJ. We almost always avoid NJ driving like the plague. I have been/lived in parts that were very nice. But I don't miss them at all.
P.S. I don't hate on all of LI. Just the part in between the forks and the boroughs.
I think it depends on where in NJ you're talking about. I love living in Hoboken, but we don't really have traffic. We have sidewalks. I can honestly say I don't see a lot of big hair/long nails here either.
People who generalize & say they don't like the entire state are just narrow minded.
