Dog training?
HELP! My dog is out of control!...okay, its not that bad, but she is making us crazy! We can not house break her to save our lives!! She poops & pees in the house. She is "about" a year old. Someone gave her to us and the vet said she was about 5-6 months old then. So she wasnt house broke when we got her...and she is not getting any better. If anything she is getting worse. Dh is getting pissed.
Last night he took her out to use the bathroom- he walked her to all of her favorite poop spots...nothing..he brings her insde 2 minutes later she poops behind the chair (her favorite inside pooping spot)
This morning I take her out after i wakeup-i do this every morning...she pees, she never poops until after she eats breakfast....i bring her insde 2 seconds later she is pooping on the floor IN THE DANG KITCHEN!!! OMG i almost lost my mind!!!!! She has NEVER pooped in the kitchen before!!!
She pees all over the place- We generally do not let her have alot of water because she will just pee 5 seconds later.
We reward her when she poops outside, and spank her when she poops inside and then send her to "bed"-which is her crate. She stays in her crate during the day while we are at work, and at night when we are sleeping...and when she is in trouble. (which is alot).
I've tried putting the poop in her crate with her (i know it sounds cruel)....
DH doesnt want to try those training pads...he says that is just going to teach her that it is "okay" to poop/pee in the house... well hell what can it hurt, she already thinks its okay..
I want to put something in her fave spot to deter her from going there....i thought moth balls, but then i was informed that if she eats one it could kill her...so i nixed that idea. I've looked @ walmart and they dont sell ne thing that i could put back there. I haven't looked @ Pet Smart yet...
Anyone have any ideas?? I could try the pets board but i was going to ask here first bc sometimes you get flamed on other boards.

That would drive me crazy...I would say try the training pads but if Dh wont let you then hmmmm...
we use a coke can full of pennies for our puppy...we shake it at him when he is doing something bad..(peeing, chewing, or being somewhere where he shouldnt be) It has worked so far really well.
The problem is that we don't usually see her doing it. I caught her inthe act this morning inthe kitchen, but generally i'm getting ready to go in the morning when she is pooping/peeing....sometimes we catch her but most of the time we don't.
the last roommate I had had a dog who would go to the bathroom in the house a lot. she fixed the problem by keeping him in his crate all the time, only letting him out to go outside to the bathroom. We gradually started to let him out of the crate for a little while, usually right after he had been outside, and slowly lengthened the time he was out of his crate.?
He was still in the crate to sleep at night, and during the day when no one was home (which wasn't a lot as all the people in the house had different schedules.
could you try doing that? leave her in the crate most of the time, until she learns??
and i am sure you can get some sprays and things from pet smart that will make her not want to pee in a certain spot?
She is a "Snorkie", Schnauzer & Yorkie... and her name is Diva---which might be the problem, lol jk its not a problem, but she acts like a dang Diva
Just want to offer a word of support! I know when our puppy was learning, it got frustrating with all the "accidents" on the floor. We had him since 6 weeks old, so it was easier to be consistent with always taking him out first thing when he was whining, or trying to find a nice corner inside to poo in. I'm sure it's harder when you got Diva and she was older, already with some bad habits.
Try not to keep her in her crate TOO much, because if she never leaves it, that's not much of a life for a dog. However, I think just trying to take her out as much as possible and praise her like crazy when she goes pee outside is important. Also, just google this topic and you'll find lots of good ways to work on this issue. GL!!!!
