Mount Ephraim or Berlin?

We're looking for a new home and there are places in both of these cities within our price range. ?Does anyone have any opinions on whether these towns are good places to live or not?

?

TIA!

Erin ?:)?

Re: Mount Ephraim or Berlin?

  • My parents' first house was in Mt. Ephraim so I really don't know that much about it.  Berlin seems nice.  I know a few people that live there now and there houses are nice and the neighborhoods look good.

I'd look into the school system for each of the towns...esp if you intend on staying there awhile.

  • Ditto what Izzy said re:  school systems.

For some reason I recall not wanting to look in the Mt. Ephraim area due to what FI had said regarding the school...

I think berlin is pretty nice...
  • Mt. Ephraim schools feed into Audubon High School after 6th or 8th grade.  AHS is a good school, but I remember the kids from Mt. Ephraim had trouble adjusting to Audubon.  I'm not sure about their elementary schools though which is probably what you are most concerned about.

Mt. Ephraim is nice though.  We looked there when we were buying and almost bought a house there.

  • Berlin Boro or Berlin Twp?...

Boro feeds into Eastern for 9-12 which is an Awesome high school... and Berlin Community (K-8) is just as great.

Berlin Twp has its own (K-8) system which I hear is good... and then they feed into Overbrook for 9-12.  Overbrook has changed a lot in recent years.  It is a much smaller district than it used to be and from what I here this has been great for the school (smaller class sizes, etc...)

As PP said, Mt. Ephraim feeds into Audubon High which is a great school, but the Mt Ephraim kids can sometimes feel like the outsiders...

  • Thanks so much ladies!
  • I live in Berlin Boro now and love it. It's quiet, safe and everyone is so nice. The school systems are excellent, although I do not have any children yet, I've already checked out the schools. As other people said Berlin Twp. is different and go to different schools. Overbrook is def. not what it used to be. I am a substitute teacher in the PineHill School district I do not do highschool though, and I hear everything that goes on over there...not great things.  Hope that helps.
