I got my IUD today

Holy god, that was horrible...but I know it'll be so worth it over the next 5 years.

I'm off to go lay on the couch the rest of the day.

Damn you Nest for screwing up my siggy!

Re: I got my IUD today

  • I can imagine that it wouldn't feel nice.  Do you still get your period while you are on it?

  • Yeah, but it may slow down a lot or go away...I got Mirena so it still has some hormones in it.  She said I may have some spotting for up to 6 months, or it could just not happen...we won't know till I'm going through it (or not going through it).

  • I see.  I think i'd freak out not having a period.  I'd being poas all the time even though the chances of being pg were slim to none.

Well, i hope you are feeling better

  • I got my mirena in Nov, and it hurt when she put it in for about 5min and then I was fine. I think since then I have had maybe 3 periods-much lighter than they used to be and only a couple bouts of spotting. I actually POAS yesterday since I just remembered it had been since Feb-neg-whew! I told my Dr that I would be peeing on sticks left and right and she laughed and said not to waste my money. I think it is .06 failure rate, although someone on 6-12 did just get pg on Paraguard. Anyways, my point is I love it!
  • I've heard lots of good things about it after the initial few days...I usually only get a period every 3-4 months anyway w/my BCP so I'm not too worried about freaking out.  Well, I say that now, but I may freak out later.  My friend's mom got pg w/her sister on an IUD too...it happens, but it happens with other forms of BC too.  At least I don't have to worry about this one daily.
