Anyone ever taken a cruise of Alaska? Any advice on which cruise lines are the best for that trip, and what cities/ports I should make sure are on the itinerary? DH and I were thinking of doing an Alaska cruise this summer.
Re: Alaska Cruises?
I haven't done a cruise but i spent a week visiting friends in Juneau about 3 years ago. It was amazing! So beautiful and pristine, it almost didn't seem real! In that short amount of time i saw mountain goats, a bear and her cubs, wild horses, whales, a bald eagle (one in captivity and one flying free), beautiful waterfalls... Alaska wasn't on my list of places to visit but since i had my 2 friends from high school there i thought 'why not!'.
Either way, you'll have an amazing time!

Zip lining was what sold me when DH was pushing for Alaska and I was trying for Mexican Riviera. From what I understand, ziplining within the US is much much safer than somewhere in Mexico or the Caribbean because of of all the codes, inspections, and safety requirements that are strongly enforced. The guys that took us out really knew what they were doing and about the trees and animals in the area, I loved it!
And really, I had never been kayaking and loved it so much!
Here's our pics from our trip if you're interested. Pics
I went, it was amazing. ?The cruise line has more to do with the kind of people/travelers you are. ?Some are more up-scale, some more party atmostphere, some older, some family, some more active, etc.?
We cruised Alaska on NCL and loved it - DH especially. ?It had things like a bowling alley and rock climbing wall that kept him entertained. ?It also has anytime dining which we liked.
As far as itinerary - for an inside passage trip, which most are, definitely make sure you to to Glacier Bay. ?Hands down the best part of the trip. ?In retrospect we wish we'd done a combination land tour and cruise package because you get to go further North into Denali. ?If that sounds appealing to you I know Princess has those packages. ?
